A Northland favourite since 1996, Shiraz Indian and European Family Restaurant Dargaville carries forward a story that began in Whangarei. Chef-owner Jaswant Singh Minhas, originally from the Punjab, first joined the team while studying business management before taking the helm in 1998. His passion for authenticity runs through the kitchen, where traditional tandoori ovens impart that unmistakable char and smokiness to naan, meats and vegetarian tandoori specialities.

The menu roams widely yet remains grounded in classic technique. Comforting stalwarts such as chicken tikka masala and butter chicken share the stage with deeper, spicier notes in rogan josh and vindaloo, while prawn masala, paneer makhani and palak paneer offer rich, aromatic detours.
