Housed in an exceptionally modern skyscraper, The Lane is lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful fit out that is both spacious and uncluttered. They've taken the European bistro and upgraded it with contemporary floor tiling, Scandinavian-style shelves, and refreshing whitewashed walls which complement the oceans of natural light that stream through. Not that they've overridden tradition altogether; indeed, rustic bistro furniture and old paintings work to bring a sense of maturity and depth.

The Mediterranean enters the spotlight with the dinner menu. The starters will certainly test the size of your appetite as you are seduced by courgette and creamed corn donuts with buffalo labneh, lamb meatballs with spiced yoghurt, and Cloudy Bay clams with a coconut and lime reduction.

Mains tour the plentiful Mediterranean coast, stopping off in Greece for slow-roasted lamb shoulder with roast pumpkin and feta, in France for eye fillet with a creamy potato gratin, and Italy for smoked pumpkin and ricotta ravioli served in a delicious velouté. Finally, a trip to the Med always calls for a cocktail or three. Treat yourself to a seasonal spritz or cucumber mojito and let the summer vibes wash all over you.
