Situated in the heart of the city, it’s just a short walk from Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, New Regent Street, the casino and a variety of nightlife and cultural experiences, including The Court Theatre. The Hoi Polloi is the perfect spot for a pre- or post-event dinner, making it an ideal destination for both locals and visitors alike!

Here, a relaxed evening unfolds naturally, one well-crafted plate at a time.

For starters, smoked Akaroa salmon arrives lifted by cucumber, wakame and yuzu mayonnaise, a bright, seaside whisper against the smoke - across the aisle to France, a French onion short rib folds caramelised onion and melted Gruyère into slow-cooked richness - comfort with a wink of bistro nostalgia.

The mains bring a sense of confidence and generosity to the table. New Zealand lamb rump comes with a pistachio-panko crust, served alongside potatoes and seasonal vegetables and finished with a rich pan jus. The coq au vin blanc, slow-cooked with bacon lardons, mushrooms and shallots over creamy mash, is equally mouth-watering. Complement your meal with a refreshing choice from their curated beverage selection.

To finish, desserts tip their hat to beloved flavours with Whittaker’s chocolate mousse, scattered with peanut slab shards and a bright raspberry sorbet, or a Basque-style matcha cheesecake with strawberry compote.
