In Glendowie, Auckland, The Terraces Restaurant brings a globe-trotting sensibility to the comforts of a well-set table. The kitchen moves with assurance from Mediterranean brightness to deli nostalgia and North African warmth, blending classic technique with contemporary touches. It’s food that feels familiar yet freshly told, the kind that rewards a little curiosity and a healthy appetite.

Openings set the tone with finesse - pan con tomate crowned with jamón serrano, or a silken lobster bisque. From there, the menu leans into generosity and slow craft. A beef brisket pie arrives tucked beneath flaky pastry with rosemary potatoes, while a lamb shank tagine settles into herb and golden raisin couscous.

For those who like their comforts with a flourish, a beef filet mignon comes with bacon, jackson potato, spinach, and beetroot - elsewhere, a pumpkin risotto folds basil, mascarpone, and pine nuts into a creamy, aromatic bowl.

House classics keep things convivial - a Reuben sandwich stacked on rye, and a sabih roll with fried eggplant, egg, tahini, tabbouleh, amba aioli, and mint torshi. Handcrafted pizzas span from a classic Margherita to the unabashedly sunny Hawaiian, before puddings close the circle. Think coffee-steeped crème brûlée with a tonka bean financier, or chocolate mousse that doubles down on caramel.

Gather your favourites and let The Terraces Restaurant do the rest - a little wander for the taste buds, and all the better for it!
