Set in Glendowie, Auckland, The Terraces High Tea offers a measured celebration of the classic afternoon ritual. It’s the sort of place where time slows, cups warm the hands, and conversation takes centre stage, with a procession of savouries and sweets designed to entice rather than overwhelm.

Savoury bites set the tone - a pulled lamb croquette brings tender richness lifted by mint slaw and a whisper of aioli, while crayfish rolls nod to coastal indulgence, tucked with lettuce and a gentle lick of Mari Rose sauce. Each mouthful leans into contrast - crisp and creamy, herbaceous and briny - keeping the palate keen.

At the heart of the spread, delicate sandwiches keep tradition alive. A cucumber sandwich is refreshed with egg mayo and a hint of truffle, and smoked chicken pairs with herb mayo, Gouda, and lettuce for quiet comfort. Then come scones, plain traditional or fruit-studded, ready for generous mascarpone and strawberry jam.

Desserts bring a final flourish - lemon and meringue tartlets that sing with citrus, and chocolate cups filled with silky Embassy chocolate ganache, brightened by passion fruit.

Unhurried, polished, and quietly indulgent, The Terraces High Tea is an invitation to linger. Reserve a spot and make a date with teatime – pinkies optional, pleasure mandatory!
