At the edge of Whitby Lakes, The Whitby Co-op Kitchen and Bar brings a contemporary, welcoming spirit to Porirua. Inside, airy spaces carry a touch of local charm; outside, a sunny, covered garden bar makes the most of the waterfront setting in any season. Family-friendly and relaxed, it suits midweek catch-ups just as well as marking something special.

In the kitchen, the focus is on hearty meals and generous flavours — the kind of comforting plates that pair well with conversation and lake views. Service is warm and unhurried, and the pace invites guests to settle in and savour.

Behind the bar, there is a confident pour: crisp Heineken and Monteith's Brewster Pilsner on tap, craft favourites like Garage Project Tiny Hazy IPA by the can, and a line-up of classics from a classic margarita to the berry‑kissed El Diablo. Wine lovers can clink to Champagne and sparkling or explore sauvignon blanc labels, while the zero-proof crowd is well looked after with Co-op's Sunrise and Happy Teddy, plus coffee from Americano to Latte.

Whether gathering with family or sharing a relaxed date by the water, The Whitby Co-op Kitchen and Bar sets the tone. Plan a visit, raise a glass to Whitby Lakes, and let the good times flow.
