Local seafood when you’ve just been on a coastal walk, what could be better? The Hook in Petone offers the freshest on the market.

A short stroll from the esplanade, The Hook is a clean, open-plan dining space with low-lit Edison bulbs and copious greenery. A warm respite from the cooler air of the Petone coast.

If the name hasn’t given it away already, fish (and seafood) is the dish of the day, every day. Japanese style ceviche and Vietnamese Nelson mussels make for exotic sharing plates, with more substantial mains such as surf n turf offering a heartier meal.

The Hook is also a craft beer hub, with both Panhead and Emerson’s varieties on tap, including the latter’s London Porter to warm your cockles on a cooler day. The wine list is also strong and if that’s not strong enough, there’s plenty of cocktails to mull over.
