On Victoria Street in Hamilton Central, Blue Dragon channels the bustle of Vietnam’s streets into a warm, accessible slice of dining. It is a place where authenticity is measured in fresh herbs, clear broths and the irresistible crunch of a well-made baguette, with street-side classics available Tuesday to Saturday.

The kitchen leans into the honed simplicity of bánh mì, whether packed with grilled pork or the comforting duo of pate and egg. Bowls of phở arrive steaming, beef or chicken layered with aromatic stock and a tangle of rice noodles. Rice and sticky rice dishes bring deeper, homelier notes, with braised or caramelised pork that speaks of patience and balance. From the snack counter, juicy pork skewers and crisp fried pork rolls nod to the charcoal and sizzle of curbside grills.

There is sweetness, too - traditional mung bean and pomelo desserts offer fragrant finales. Drinks salute café culture with Vietnamese coffee, black or enriched with condensed milk, alongside green tea and bright kumquat tea.

When settling in with a restorative noodle bowl, Blue Dragon makes Vietnamese comfort feel close to home. Drop by, follow the aroma and let the dragon lead you to flavour!
