Peacocks might only be found flaunting their stuff in a few countries, but The Thirsty Peacock is taking diners on an international tour from England's Yorkshire moors to serene Japan and the home of butter chicken!

A spacious and modern watering hole in the Christchurch Art Gallery, this eatery is wonderfully relaxed with a gastro-pub vibe. Stretch out, wine and recline. Speaking of which, any thirsty peacocks out there are called to visit their immense bar, complete with some of NZ's finest crafties.

The starters kick off the global tour nicely. We're heading to Egypt for a helping of house-baked bread and nutty dukkah, to China for some prawn and pork dumplings, and to Northern England for its legendary Yorkshire puddings, complete with braised beef cheek, pea puree, and horseradish cream.

Onto the second leg of our trip and there's teriyaki pork belly with tender bok choy, sumptuous lamb curry with crispy poppadums, premium beef ribeye steak, and its vegetarian counterpart, the cauliflower steak. Even the desserts are taking us to the Parisian streets for crème brûlée and rainy England for a sticky date pudding. Seriously, who needs a plane ticket when you have The Thirsty Peacock?
