dinner

On historic New Regent Street in Christchurch Central, Downstairs is a premier bistro from the team behind Twenty Seven Steps.

Crafted for grazing and lingering over good conversation, the menu showcases a collection of seasonal dishes inspired by local produce and bold, comforting flavours.

A meal here begins with house favourites such as kimchi croquettes, duck liver parfait or truffle-salted Agria chips before moving on to generous plates featuring everything from chargrilled octopus to confit garlic hummus and sweet-and-sour Brussels sprouts.

Whether settling in for a casual catch-up, a relaxed family gathering or a celebratory feast, the atmosphere encourages everyone to mix, match and share.

To finish on a sweet note, choose the classic crème brûlée, the cake or flan of the day or a thoughtfully assembled cheese board. Paired with a curated selection of refreshments and warm hospitality, it's a dining experience designed to be enjoyed together.

Gather your crew, book a table, and let the evening unfold at Downstairs!
