Waitress was lovely and gave good banter. Food was good and came out quickly. Atmosphere was buzzing and within a lovely environment. That's the three pillars of a good restaurant folks!

A hidden secret, our meals were outstanding - roast pork ( such perfect vege hidden under plenty tender pork & gravy) beef cheeks, lamb shank ( took bit longer to cook but worth the wait- we were warned. Salmon on bed of asparagus, divine. We never knew this restaurant existed - this is what first table is about - new experiences.

Enjoyed our time here!
Set up wasn’t quite what we were expecting, restaurant is a small portion of a big building with backpackers and travellers walking through occasionally - which is fine for a cafe/bar I suppose. I ordered a passionfruit mojito and got a standard mojito which was fine I like that anyway. Partner had the butter chicken and he said it was amazing. My chicken salad was pretty nice! Don’t expect too nice of a set up but it is a lovely place to go have a casual meal!
Servers were talkative and polite!
Thanks team.

Great service, fabulous food and really friendly staff. the only disappointment was the fact I had no room for dessert! Would recommend, especially through First Table as it's such great value!

Walked past the place as it is the entrance to Breakfree Hotel. I was expected a bar type place. Eventually found it and wouldn't usually expect to find the great food for the surroundings. Inside there is one area a bit darker near a TV where we sat (was ok, more privacy) and the other half was very light and next to people walking into the hotel. The food was great. The garlic bread starter is dangerous; I could have eaten that all night! My husband and I shared our meals so we could taste them all - we tried lamb shank which came with mash and aspargus and sauce and beef cheeks which came with a mash with mustard in (more coarse than the lamb shank mash) and aspargus and sauce. Both were nice. If I were to had to choose just one to have again I'd have the lamb shank. For pudding we shared the sticky date pudding and the pav. Both were very nice. If I had to choose one out of the two I'd choose the sticky date pudding. The sticky date pudding was warm and came with cream, ice-cream, sauce and some hard toffee to add a crunch - lovely! You have to order at the counter to order your meals but you can pay for it all at the end. I would recommend and would return.

Food and service good. Restaurant in main lobby of hotel there was lots of hussle and bustle, plenty to look at, would revisit.

What started is a 'get out of cooking' meal surpassed all expectations. The venue was busy from the outset but the service could not have been better. Well suited for the kids and the food was delicious! We would happily go back!

Our first time here. It's in the ground floor of a hotel, with TVs showing sports. The service was excellent and the food was surprisingly good. We'll return.

Food is quite nice with great portion but a bit salty. (Too much salt for the seasoning). Beer is only $6 before 7pm on weekday.

Service was awesome. My partner loved the lamb shank which he described 'as big as a dinosaur leg'. We were there during happy hour so not only did we enjoy our discounted meals but also very cheap drinks. Lovely evening.

This cafe is connected to the hotel and provides meals as part of package tours. We found the place hard to find because it is not clearly marked on the building, which appears to be fairly new and has empty spaces. When we arrived we were horrified to see the place absolutely packed at 6 pm.Most of the cafe has open plan lounge areas and high stools.. There are four or five tables talked into a corner at front underneath the huge widescreen TV showing rugby. It was very noisy and when the door opened it was cold. You have to order at the bar and there were very long queues when we arrived is it coincided with a Kontiki tour arrival. We were told that this was unusually busy.

The food was generous, tasty and arrived promptly. The menu was full of standard fare. There was only one vegetarian offering which was a salad. The wine list was extremely small and limited to sheep and cheerful mess produced wine.

The waitress who took our order was pleasant but poured the wrong wine twice before getting it right. She was clearly flustered with so many guests arriving at once. However the low school I’ve given for service was not due to the staff who were friendly and courteous and apologised for the busyness of the evening. But you can’t write service hi when you have to order at the bar.

All in all this is one of the worst dining experiences I have had and was extraordinarily disappointing compare to one of the best experiences I had a couple of weeks earlier at Stories. Personally I don’t think you should list cafes of this style on your website among so many high quality restaurants.

I also don’t understand why you are encouraged to only submit positive public reviews, and why the ratings are only on food and service. An important part of the dining experience is the atmosphere and comfort of the space. We were really let down by choosing the wrong sort of restaurant for a Saturday evening special night out.

Food was flawless, service was great. Asked for some leftovers to be put in a container to be eaten at a later date, the lady come back and handed me the container to do it myself.. first time I've had to do that. We also didn't realise the order must be placed at the bar, a bit of time wasted there. But besides that, we could not fault the experience.

Great. Delicious food served nice and hot.

- dined at Café & Bar 165 on

It was unusual to experience very good food with reasonably expensive prices, in a small, casual environment which had the feel of a hotel vestibule. People were coming and going through the lobby which was interesting, and the large tv was showing sport so there was a feel of a sports bar too!
The standard of food was very good and well presented, and the staff were very friendly.
My friend and I both felt like the food and the environment were in opposition, not quite the ambience we expected.

- dined at Café & Bar 165 on

We were pleasantly surprised at the vast selection of meals at Cafe 165. The garlic bread was amazing and all four meals ordered were delicious. As an added bonus it was also happy hour during the First Table seating with an extensive selection of $6 drinks. Would like to mention the happy, cheeky waiter, offering friendly kiwi hospitality.

Very warm welcome as we arrived at Cafe & Bar 165 and we were given a choice of our table. We were advised of all the specials and that it was also happy hour until 7pm (bonus!). Our order was taken and out food came out without any hassle and prompt. We gave the food a 3/5 because we found the battered Dory (part of the Fish n Chips of the day) and the Pizza of the Day (Salmon) overly oily but our friend who had the beef cheeks said it was very tender and delicious with asparagus.
The service for us was great. Super friendly, nothing was too much trouble and with only two staff members on the floor they both did really well.

- dined at Café & Bar 165 on

Dined on a Wed evening using first table. Prices were reasonable even without the discount. Happy hour was a bonus.
I had the fish and chips and my wife had the steak. The food was nicely cooked and well presented (cafe style).
The service was great despite there only being the two bar staff and them also having to manage room service for the hotel!
Our only negative comment would be we tried to order the 200g steak but were informed they had run out and only had 300g steaks. A nice gesture would have been for them to offer that at the 200g price, but apparently the head chef would not have that on. At bill time they did offer a peace gesture which was nice. We will eat there again.
