We arrived on time, and were able to choose our table, rather than being told where to sit. The staff were very friendly, giving us time to chat and browse before ordering. They didnt rush us at all. They had a latino guitarist playing music and singing through the evening which provided a lovely ambience. We started with tapas, potatoes, breads and dip, calamari and scallops. All of which were perfectly presented, and tasted wonderful. They were generous portions of food. We then had Moroccan lamb shank tagine, and paella which were both cooked perfectly. My husband rated the lamb shank as the best he has ever tasted, cooked to perfection The paella had lots of seafood too, the rice was perfect, not at all stodgy. We also ordered Greek salads which were huge and very tasty. It was a lovely evening from start to finish! We would go again

We had the most amazing Anniversary dinner at Astor. My husband and I went for the tapas and tried almost every one on the menu. They were so flavoursome, presented beautifully and we wanted 2nds on every one. There was live music and friendly happy staff! Can highly recommend the Aperol Spritz also! Will 100% be coming back and would recommend to anyone and everyone :)

Lovely wander along the wharf to Astor. We started with olives and a bottle of wine... very generous serve of the olive plate - and will definitely have that again. Then I had the roast chicken which was delicious. Service was friendly, attentive and helpful. A beautiful outlook over the harbour adds to the ambiance. I recommend a visit so you can experience the charm of Astor yourself

Surrounded by the glistening harbour water, and Spanish guitar filled the air. It was hot but the Sangria was amazing!! Felt like we were transported to a busy restaurant in Spain the food was phenomenal, the gnocchi was the best in my opinion. Overall the food, environment and service was amazing! Would definitely recommend

This was our third First Table and it was fabulous, who ever came up with this idea is a genius. We would probably never have visited these restaurants if it wasn't for First Table. The choice and quality of food at Astor Tapas and Eatery was excellent, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was the added bonus of live music on a Saturday evening at Astor, a classical guitarist who's playing was exceptional. We are telling friends how good First Table is, they are impressed and I'm sure will try it out for themselves.

This was our first experience with first table and we'll definitely be back for seconds!

Astor tapas bar was fantastic. They were happy to accommodate a last minute addition to our table and service was friendly and helpful throughout.

The food was divine! We tried most items on the tapas menu and couldn't fault anything. Flavour to the max! I have never had gnocchi as light and fluffy!

All topped off with live music from a great guitarist/singer who had the Spanish vibe just right.

Astor is located in such an ideal position out the wharf overlooking the harbour to the West (Harbour Bridge). Being away from the hustle and bustle it is a great place to take some time, relax and catch up with friends and family. The food is tasty and delicious. I particularly like the mushrooms, calamari and prawns. Oh and their cocktails deserve special mention as well ... gotta love alcohol and passionfruit right?! Service is great and I think the whole experience is a great package.

From the warm friendly greeting through to the final bill, Astor delivered on service and food. We were a group of 3 diners and chose 6 or so Tapas dishes to share along with a bottle of Rioja. The food came out in a timely fashion, the service and banter were excellent and best of all the tapas dishes were so tasty. The gnocchi and sauce were a star. The calamari, tender but with a tasty crispy crumb. Lovely venison meatballs in a deep flavoured sauce. Get down to the Viaduct, dive into Astor and enjoy the food, service and views across the harbour.

We had a glorious dinner in the sun and it was absolutely delicious. Gorgeous dishes full of flavour, all of them packed a punch - particularly the gnocchi. The tapas dishes are quite small, we had to order a lot more than we initially expected, and the lamb tapas dish is not included with the First Table deal. However, you can't beat the location and food. A perfect venue for summer.

This was the first time we had used First Table. We are now hooked! What a wonderful way to enjoy Auckland's finest as discounted rates. I love having the early dinner sitting as we can go out for a wonderful date night and still be back in time to put the kidz to bed.

Astor was a great experience. The ambiance was awesome - there was even a lovely chap playing the guitar. We had the Tapas and they were delicious. A lovely variety of tasty treats. we had the full selection as starters and mains.

The cocktails were delicious as were the coffee's at the end of the meal.

We'll certainly be back!

I’ve booked a few first tables and booked this one for my sisters birthday. A group of 4 ladies. The food was by far the most amazing out of everywhere we’ve eaten and we will definitely go back. All of us couldn’t stop raving, we had a range of different mains and tapas and not one dish was too our disliking. Well done to the chef and lovely staff. The place is set further down from the others but the restaurant is beautiful, you can sit inside or out. We had a heater and the lovely girl gave me a blanket. Thank you for a great afternoon

Friendly welcome, extra attention for coeliac choices, (actually written down as a separate menu for us) succulent scallops, the King prawns very "moreish" & each main exceeded expectations. Desserts...yum! & decorated for the birthday person.
Comfortable seating & the "greenery walls" add an extra dimension. Of course..must mention sea view. .Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you.

Astor Tapa’s is a MUST!!
The owner is this great guy who I would happily take out for a drink. Also he remembered my drink so bonus points to you!

Ordered the Venison meatballs and Grilled Tiger prawns (small tapas) as entrees and it was delicious and flavoursome.

For mains we ordered the Ribeye steak and Moroccan lamb shank.. Call it melt in the mouth but it was definitely something I would happily come back for.

Last but not least the Turmeric Rhubarb Panacota was definitely different but again couldn’t fault the meal at all. Thank you for a great night.

Great friendly service from the waiter as well, highly recommend this spot.

First time dining experience at Astor Tapas Bar and Eater and I took my friend who was first to First Table and to the restaurant.

The restaurant is located at one of the best precinct in Auckland Downtown and all seats get beautiful harbour view from the Princess Wharf.

Staffs were very kind and attentive, and the FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We ordered several dishes to share including Gnocchi, Patatas Bravas, Crumbed Blue Cod and few others. They were very tasty - we were two small female eaters so it was plenty for us with few drinks. Blue Code dish - it was delicious but I found the fish was a bit dried or may have been frozen. The dipping source was lovely though. Salad however was quite plain? It could have been an icing on the cake :)

Highly recommend come and try at this restaurant with First Table booking - thanks to the booking system allow us book till 6pm, we enjoyed the very relaxing and comfortable environment and left just before it gets too crowded - just like having tapas from restaurant at Mediterranean sea :) Somewhat it was very romantic too so defo recommend bringing your loved one.. :)

Not worth the money, the food are too expensive for $80 paella, also the service is really poor, the waiters are not pro active in refilling water or asking customers if they need, we need to call them many times even we are the one who got water and went to the counter. No happy hour too, beer are expensive not like neighbouring bars in viaduct .

The food was good but tiny portions, especially if you consider the full price of the items! But overall, food wise, we were fine. It was the service at this restaurant that was abysmal. Our table was one of only two tables in the whole place, and yet we struggled to get even acknowledged by the staff working there. Every time we turned around looking for our server, she was chatting to the kitchen staff, and we saw them taking shots multiple times. I think it might have been someone's last day, but that's no excuse for poor service. We asked for the bill twice, had to grab her attention multiple times just to order dessert and then eventually, after almost an hour of sitting and chatting, we had to get up and pay because she STILL hadn't brought the bill.
