Twenty-five years after opening its doors and welcoming its first hungry diners to Saint Heliers Bay, Scalinis continues to pay testament to authentic, flavoursome Italian dining… and remains a firm local favourite.

Its success as a family-run business—there are three generations of Scalinis owners attached to it—can be attributed to its simple principles: serve delicious food and combine it with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, set it all against a beautiful backdrop, and people will keep coming.

That backdrop could so easily steal the show at Scalinis. With the restaurant mere metres from the beach, the views extend out across the sumptuous sweep of Saint Heliers Bay, with people-watching opportunities from indoor and outdoor tables alike. Homemade pasta, gourmet pizzas, hearty meat dishes and crispy-fried calamari keep the restaurant's customers loyal and satisfied with the food on their plates.

Scalinis is one of the best examples of the Italian style of trattoria: a laid-back, home from-home, where kids are welcome and conversation flows. Inside, the vibe is cosy and relaxed, with an open kitchen that allows diners to savour the aromas and theatre as their meals are prepared from the finest ingredients. Scalini's is fully licenced or BYO wine with no corkage charge.
