We were absolutely delighted with our dining experience. The food was superb, very flavoursome, innovative and we asked that our congratulations be passed on to the chef/s as we felt it important they received our appreciation. Well done and we highly recommend dining at the Glasshouse Bar & Grill.

Very convenient spot for those of us who work in Thorndon, very relaxing environment including a separate bar area and outdoor area which would be perfect in summer. Very patient staff who waited half an hour for us to finally order, great selection of cider and food was absolutely delicious - would recommend the buckwheat and edamame salad with a side of baby boils. Highly likely to come back!

Family had a great time out. Lovely atmosphere surrounded by glass yet felt like we were nestled in amongst the trees. Yummy steak cooked to perfection and garlic bread + prawns to die for!

Was really good, lots of gluten free options too. They even gave us bread and olives to start with - would have been nice if there was gf bread to go with it seeing as I'd just ordered a gf meal, but no biggy.

Lovely restaurant, steak was amazing.
Thank you

Food was amazing!!! Their buttermilk chicken is to die for. Very happy with the food. We sat at the bar to eat dinner as they were playing a world cup game at the same time so win win for me.

Food was okay, drinks requested weren’t available. Service could have been better.

Good food and larger plates compared to your usual hotel dining experience. The beef Wellington was especially tasty. Nice staff.

Staff were so lovely, the actual restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Starters of squid and bread were delish, mains of steak and Thai beef salad were fantastic! Very good sized portions. Will return!

Have been there many times before
Food quality is not so good compare to few years ago.
We went there this time with 4 people. Only 2 of us are happy about our meals. My lamb shank was a bit under average. Dry and taste so so. My friend did not finish her steak either.
Will serious consider whether we are going back again or not

A really nice surprise. Lovely service (thank you Gabrielle!) & very good food. We ordered off the grill & enjoyed all our picks. Tasty, well cooked reasonably priced food. We’ll be back.

15 minutes before anyone greeted us, the waitress saw us standing at the counter waiting and not once said hi or we will be with you shortly. Orders were mucked up twice. Steak was burnt and dry. No nuggets and one hotdog serving in stock only. Other table were given hotdogs despite us ordering and sitting first. Was disappointed.

Simple food of a good size. If you're looking for five star cuisine, this isn't the place for you. But it's warm, the woman serving was lovely and the fish and chips were filling.

Went for breakfast.Didn't realise until we got there it was a buffet and not a order off a menu. Not a large selection, but enough variety to suit everyone. AAA+++

Food was pretty good. We had the seafood pasta and burger of the day. We had ordered a starter but didn’t get it before our mains were brought out. When we asked about it they told us they had gotten the order around the wrong way and they were cooking it in now. So we still got the starter just after we had already started on the mains. Basic service, nothing extraordinary.

In saying that it was a nice set up and I would go again.

This is the 2nd time this year we have been to Glasshouse Bar & Grill. Food was good and service was excellent. The lamb shank ordered was cooked really well.

Meals were very good and the staff did appear to try to offer a good experience. The chef clearly knows his stuff.

The service was slightly off though and several things on the menu was not available. When we arrived, it took a rather long time to be handed menus and we had to then ask for the wine list. When we ordered, the waitress took our drinks and food orders at the same time.

Our first choice of wine from the wine list was "out of stock". As was on of our party's first choice of a cider. Drinks and meals were slow to arrive and the food did not arrive at the same time. The quality and plating of the main meals was excellent though.

The waitress was not good at removing empty plates, nor did she offer more drinks. She seemed more interested in cleaning empty tables around us than looking after us. Desert was interesting. We ordered (amongst other deserts) the "three cheese cheese board" which was supposed to be served with walnuts and grapes. There were only two cheeses (again the "out of stock" excuse, a bit odd for a Saturday night) and the walnuts and grapes had been substituted with sliced apple and salted peanuts.

Our choice of port with the cheese board was likewise "out of stock" and we instead asked for Drambuie which was, peculiarly, served on ice.

If it was not for these little mishaps, I would have rated the experience 10/10 as the food was very good. As it is, the waiting staff could do with some training.

The food was good, and while the dining experience leaves a little to be desired - it's unmistakably a hotel dining room - this is a good option if you're in the area.

Amazing service from the wait staff. They were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. The food was very tasty as well, although they did forget to send out the sauce options with steaks. Other than that it was perfect.

- dined at Glasshouse Bar & Grill on

Food was good, not a huge quantity but sufficient. Well presented.

- dined at Glasshouse Bar & Grill on

The service was excellent and efficient, and the food was lovely. The steaks off the grill menu were tender and cooked perfectly. It was quite cold in the restaurant so we dined with our jackets on which wasn’t a problem. Overall a great experience

- dined at Glasshouse Bar & Grill on

Only bad thing was the long waiting time for the food, and we had a waitress who was new and didnt have full training . Apart from that the food was delish and made up for waiting. We had the steak , thai beef salad and brownie . All worth a try .

- dined at Glasshouse Bar & Grill on

Terrible experience. Waitress looked so overwhelmed and couldn’t cope. Kids meals came and they’d finished eating before we were told ours would be cooked soon! Steak was so overdone. They did redo it when I complained though. Everything took far too long despite there being not many others in the restaurant. Definitely won’t go back.

Was absolutely terrible the steak was burnt the beef Wellington was very small but to top it off there was a spider and web in the broccoli never again

Slow for meals to come out but good value

- dined at Glasshouse Bar & Grill on

My partner and I both had the lamb dish. It wasn't terrible, but we also didn't find it great. Nothing to brag about. The squid as a starter was delicious and the creme brûlée for desert was great as well. I know the restaurant was understaffed due to a cook calling off work, so service was a little slow, but I don't think that is the norm. Overall an okay experience.

Pretty nice place. Wouldn’t normally come here, but I was glad to have experienced it. Food and service was pretty good!

Really enjoyed our meals. The Glasshouse has great decor and really nice atmosphere. We had a lovely waitress who went out of her way to look after us and she even made my husband a fancy drink that she had not made before (which she did a great job of) Easy to use our first table voucher and the staff had no trouble sorting the discount for us. Would absolutely use first table and dine at the Glasshouse house again!

Would’t go back - food that came out was different to what was on the menu. There was no service and the experience (other than the company) was a waste of time. Will not go back.

Unfortunately they didn't seem prepared for us and the staff seemed unaware of what to do for first table guests. The staff were nice just appeared to lack experience for example didnt ask how my partner wanted his steak so it came out well done and didn't have any idea of beer options or offer a drinks list. My fish also had bones all through it. Our entree came out at the same time as our mains. Unfortunately we would not recommend anyone to dine here.

Great starters and great feeling bar with good selection on tap! Also amazing service. The small dot of bbq sauce in the bbq pulled pork burger was a bit sad, the only reason for a rating of 4. Would go back!

The food was outstanding however was greatly letdown by the lack of service. Had their service been there it would have made for an outstanding experience and would happily go back and pay full price. We couldn’t however fault the food it was the best meal I’ve had in a long time.

Pleasant atmosphere and staff. The food was ok. I had a lamb shank. Vegetables, potato and gravy were very good but the lamb was a bit tough and fatty.
