Boasting some of the best views on the Wellington waterfront, Coene’s pairs its idyllic setting with a welcoming spirit that keeps locals and visitors coming back. With dinky ships bobbing on the harbour, Somes Island glimmering in the distance, and the ever-changing blues of the sea, this is waterfront dining at its finest.

The menu at Coene’s brings a touch of the world to the capital. Diners can savour house-smoked fish served with poached eggs and hollandaise, saffron seafood risotto rich with ocean flavour, or tender soy-glazed pork belly that melts with every bite. Each dish feels like a celebration of fresh ingredients and thoughtful cooking.

For those who prefer the comfort of familiar favourites, the menu offers hearty pub classics such as lamb rump with Mediterranean sides and pan-fried fish bursting with coastal goodness. The sides are just as tempting, from heirloom carrots in saffron and coconut sauce to golden fries with aioli and buttery portobello mushrooms.

With its breezy charm, sweeping views, and plates made for sharing (if you can bear to), Coene’s captures everything Wellington does best: good food, good company, and a setting that’s impossible to forget.
