The food at shed 5 was fantastic really enjoyed our meals cooks beautifully, staff were friendly and efficient. Was expecting food maybe 10 minutes sooner had to wait 40 minutes for our mains to be served, overall was worth going love it there been a few times. Would highly recommend going there if you haven’t been before. I would definitely go back, thanks for great food Shed 5

We had an awesome dining experience at Shed 5. The food tastes really great. Focaccia bread with truffle and mascarpone is a must try, as for the mains, their seafood and salmon is fresh. I will definitely go back.

The wife and I opted for Friday lunch and we were lucky that particular Friday was the only sunny day and with Shed's 5 excellent location and seating offering it worked out perfectly.

The Host quickly confirmed out booking and offered us a window seat, and in less than 5 minutes the lovely waitress approached us to check whether we have decided what to drink.

It did not take long for the drinks to arrive and we were ready to order by then. I ordered the Salmon, chorizo, and saffron cream and my wife chose the Tamarind chicken. We also had a couple of side dishes: Makikihi Fries and the beetroot salad .

Our plates arrived less than 15mins later -A pretty good turnout considering lunch breaks do not last long-.

The saffron mussel cream was lovely, and biting on a piece of chorizo every now and then was a welcome surprise..Compliments to the Chef for developing this recipe; I am already intrigued by the thought of how it would taste with Tuna fish which was another fish option for the day. Maybe I should try this next time.

The chicken plate was just as good. My wife loved and judging by how it looked I can see why.The beetroot salad is also another winner with salty fetta cheese and lightly sweet with an after-taste (or a hint) of subtle sourness that exposes the delicious pomegranate molasses. Coming originally from the middle east, I am very familiar with this molasses. I add it to Tahini to create an energy packed morning dipping with toast especially in winter nights and God knows there are many of those in Wellington.

The portions are what you would expect when food is prepared by thoughtful chefs; just enough to allow you to enjoy 2 or 3 courses without feeling uncomfortably full. Something I personally appreciate and enjoy.

The service was excellent. The waiters keep their distance while being very attentive. Orders coming out relatively quickly but we never felt like we were being rushed through.

Highly recommended for the food quality and location especially when seated next to the windows. We will certainly go back again.

Shed 5, a place to forget a chilly day.
Once inside the sun warms the huge glazed windows with heating at a perfect temperature. The service is very attentive yet unobtrusive. The food is very well presented with good portion sizes and delicious. Add to this a great wine selection and you have a lovely place to enjoy lunch with the girls.

Shed5 was an absolutely delightful dining experience.

Our waitress was attentive and helpful, guiding us with great recommendations.

We started with cocktails and starters; a manhatten, Moscow mule, the duck spring rolls and oysters. We couldn't decide between deep fried and fresh oysters, so went half and half. Absolutely delicious either way, with accompaniments of an apple cucumber vinegar, fresh lemon, or aioli.

Mains we decided to go with fish, as this is Shed5's speciality. I had the tuna steak and it was incredible! Beautifully seared, with a creamy white bean and tomato puree, with root vegetables.

For dessert we went with the apple pudding and banana gelato. Both were a wonderful finish to an excellent meal.

The atmosphere at Shed5 was beautiful, with a view of the water from our table. It was warm and quiet (we dined on a Sunday evening), and felt very peaceful.

Can't wait until we can visit again!

My family and I - dined at Shed 5 this evening and had a fantastic experience. The service was outstanding and we were looked after by a lovely French woman named Cloe who was personable, fun and knew the menu to provide excellent recommendations. The ambience was nice and while Wellington put on freezing temperatures, the restaurant was warm and cosy. If you are a seafood fan you will LOVE the food. The seafood chowder and risotto were delicious and jam packed with seafood, full of flavour and great portion sizes. My aunt and uncle delighted in fresh oysters, seared tuna and lamb shank. Be warned, the lamb shank is gigantic and I recommend skipping a starter of you want to finish it. The desserts were nice, but the seafood is definitely the highlight. Absolutely recommend dining here!

Food was great. The festival dish for woap was really good. Would definitely recommend it. The crayfish truffle spaghetti was also another favourite. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful as well. It was a very enjoyable lunch and a bonus to be the first table booking

This place is amazing, the service is friendly and the food exceeded expectations. The waitress heard that it was my birthday and made a special effort to bring out a small dessert that had 'Happy birthday' written in chocolate which was greatly appreciated. I will absolutely keep going back

I brushed my service dog Darcy, and headed to Shed 5 with my partner. They could not have welcomed us better, taking our jackets and showing us to a lovely table by the window.
We wanted to try everything on the menu! It all looked really lush. We settled for bread, two entrees, two mains and two desserts. Our lovely Italian waitress helped me with my wine choice, and it was an excellent decision!

The ambiance was peaceful and yet the decor, particularly the lights, made it a vibrant space to have a lovely meal in. We did not feel rushed, and Darcy was able to lie and sleep, enjoying the wooden floor (his favourite kind to lie on!).

In particular we were struck by how well the chefs clearly respected the produce, every bite was cleverly thought out, and nothing was on the plate that didn't need to be. Between bites we sat quietly enjoying the zing on our tastebuds from the yuzu curd/sauce, the cleanness from the fresh white fish, and the delicate pasta that had that taughtness to it (the best way to eat it!).

All in all, we had a lovely time at Shed 5. They have an amazing reputation as providing a 'special meal', and we were incredibly impressed. The location also added an extra layer of surprise, being able to take a stroll afterwards to walk off our meal made the evening a 10/10 for us.

Ultimately, nothing disappointed. We are so glad we had this opportunity and it really did make our 'date night' a special one, where we left with warm fuzzies inside because good food is central to our lives. Thanks!!
P.S Photo of Darcy!

There's a good reason Shed 5 is our go to Friday night wind down. With the bar snacks and wine selection being exceptional we had never made it past the bar. Seeing the restaurant on first table we decided let's do this and made the leap to what was a step above exceptional dining experience. We used the opportunity to take our daughter and grandson. He loved it from start to finish and seems too have banked the experience into his list of awesome... The service was fantastic and attentive thanks. The food hit very taste bud like a well choreographed dance that both melted our senses and exploded yet another myth that things peak and can't get better... From the first oyster through to the last finger wipe of our desert plates it was a dining experience not to be missed. And definitely needs to be repeated. Thanks Shed 5 for making memories....

We (family of four) thoroughly enjoyed every element of Shed 5. All the staff were great and our waiter was attentive, fun and informative. The menu had great choices and the meals where amazing. We couldn't fault a single thing and will be back next time we visit Wellington. In the meantime I have been recommending to family and friends to dine at Shed 5 before choosing any other!

Incredible. These guys do class and they do class well. Do yourself a flavour and get the market fish - they do everything well but the seafood is outstanding. Dessert was a delight, very good value for money. One of Wellingtons leading establishments and for a very good reason

Staff went the extra mile to provide a cushion for my back! Great suggestions and advice given on the menu. Attentive on the water and wine glasses being refilled. Very generous portion sizes left no room for dessert. Lovely evening all round

Thank you to Shed5 for a wonderful dining experience! I wanted to treat my Mum to something a little bit more special for Mothers Day and everything from the moment we entered was just perfect. Service was polite and professional and all of our meals were exceptional, such a treat to have such perfectly cooked tuna. I would def recommend and dine again when back in Wellington :)

I can't say enough how much I love Shed 5, headed by, Geoff Ngan. The service is not just good but extremely warm. The food is out of this world. We had the seafood chowder basking in fish, mussel, clam, prawns really bringing the full flavours out in the chowder. I love how they have done the fish, you really get all flavours (not only the fish) but the various sauces vegetables etc. Amazing. We also had the sticky date pudding - again out of this world. The ice cream was an interesting mix of ginger, orange peel and the pudding was moist and not overly sweet. Blew my mind away. I wish i had stomach for the entire menu. Cant wait to be back!

We had a wonderful night at Shed 5. We were totally spoiled. Great service and amazing food! Best negroni cocktail we’ve ever had. Recommend the tuna and salmon sashimi salad as a starter.

- dined at Shed 5 Restaurant & Bar on

My word - what a restaurant! The snapper and tuna was cooked to PERFECTION! The service was also outstanding, all the wait staff were very knowledgable about each dish and wine matches. We were unfortunately too full for pudding but they also looked incredible.. tempted to go back later today for one! So impressed :) such a nice restaurant setting too.

- dined at Shed 5 Restaurant & Bar on

We had a fabulous table by the window with a view of the harbour and activities. We were warmly welcomed by skilled and new staff. The menu has a great selection of land and sea dishes but we chose to eat all seafood. The salmon and tuna sashimi and terakihi ceviche were fresh and tasty and the main course of groper/ hapuka was delicious. We gave into temptation and tried desserts to round off a lovely sunny Autumn evening on the Wellington waterfront.

Superb service and food!!! I visited Shed 5 a few times already and I always enjoyed it. But my recent visit last 9 Nov 2019 was the best so far. The food and service were always outstanding, but they step up a bar higher this time. You see it was a post birthday celebration of my friend. So after polishing off our plates, we were so full we decided to skip dessert. But our waiter came out with a little candle on a slice of I think turkish delight, to the delight and surprise of me and my friend. Thanks guys!!! You made my friend's day! Keep up the good work! Till next time!

It was good to finally get in and try the food here, the seafood was great. We ordered doz oysters all were a bit on the small to tiny size. The chowder I really enjoyed. Service was ok too just felt maybe they were a bit busy to offer the normal attentive service they give.
Although there were a few people dinning we felt comfortable with plenty of space away from other dinners which was nice. Might be back.

Great entrees with fantastic flavours, the crayfish spaghetti was particularly tasty and well worth the price. For the main I chose the steak cooked rare however the chef advised it needed to be cooked medium due to the fat needing to be rendered. Unfortunately this meant my steak was extremely dry and inedible, however the maitre d apologised and offered a new steak immediately which I declined....he then advised he would not be charging for the steak. To end the meal I had the affogato which was to die for due to the restaurants fantastic coffee. Overall the meal and the ambience was excellent and well worth a visit.

I hadn’t been to Shed 5 for many years and was excited to be visiting what is known to be one of Wellington’s best restaurants. The restaurant has a light airy feel and we were given a window seat for our family dinner. This is a seafood restaurant and so 3 of us tried the market fish (2 variants) and one the lamb. Everyone enjoyed their mains, although my fish was a little over cooked (I know my husband’s a fisherman with 40 years experience). Perhaps surprisingly the lamb was the standout- we all had a taste and declared it scrumptious. We tried 3 of the desserts all of which were devoured with approving comments. Service was friendly and efficient with some room for improvement - being told on arrival the restaurant had not yet opened when we arrived 5 minutes after our booking, vey slow delivery of our beverage order and a few other minor details. All in all a good a good experience but perhaps not quite 5 star.
