Set on the serene Whitianga Waterways in the Coromandel, Basker pairs modern elegance with an easy-going spirit.

Its sleek lines and light-filled spaces speak of luxury, yet the welcome is blissfully relaxed. This is a place designed for friends and families to linger, where the rhythm of the room invites conversation and the menu leans into the joy of sharing.

The kitchen draws on coastal bounty and comforting favourites alike, balancing bright, beachy freshness with indulgent, satisfying bites. Think crisp tempura snapper with proper mushy peas in the house fish and chips, or Sebs Salt and Pepper Squid lifted with lemon mayo.

There’s softness and swagger in cola-braised short rib tucked into bao buns, while warm house-made focaccia, scented with rosemary and confit garlic, is made for tearing and passing - a lick of hot honey and a dusting of dukkah keep things lively.

Sweet moments are well served by a fudgy chocolate brownie with vanilla bean ice cream or the cheesecake of the day.

Whether it’s a quick bite or a leisurely gathering, Basker makes every visit feel like a small celebration! Gather your favourites, claim a waterside table, and take a moment to bask.
