The first-ever Japanese hot pot restaurant to grace Queenstown, Goku Japanese Restaurant is bringing everyone together with giant pots of soul food. Whether you’ve been out on the slopes or simply running about town, get your spoons and chopsticks ready for a world of warmth and flavour.

Authentically Japanese in everything they do, leave NZ at the door and allow Goku to whisk you away to the quiet zen of the onsen pools and the serene foothills of Mount Fuji. Softly lit, immaculate, and with stunning illustrations brightening up the walls, this is blissful peace with a hint of wasabi.

Now that you’re suitably relaxed, their hotpots hit all the right notes and cast a comforting spell over your evening. The super hotpots are immense and stuffed with all kinds of goodies. You can even dip your toe in some history with the sukiyaki plates that originated from the Edo era 450 years ago. Now that should get tongues wagging and chopsticks wiggling.

And that’s not all; there is sashimi, tempura, sukiyaki, and shabu shabu with different kinds of meat and seafood on the menu. From NZ rib eye to sukiyaki and super tsufu nabe, it’s your task to cook the ingredients at the table yourself and scoop up every last morsel. It’s impossible not to!
