Chilled Sunday vibes every day of the week? Don’t mind if we do! After all, someone’s got to be on relaxing duty, right?

Tucked away in Country Lane, Frankton, SUNDAYS is your neighbourhood eatery and drinkery, set inside a beautifully restored 1933 church – and now proudly sporting a 2026 MICHELIN Bib Gourmand.

Serving up seriously good food with plenty of Italian influence, the wood-fired oven sits at the heart of the kitchen. Neapolitan-style pizzas are the hero, with house-made sourdough bases and toppings ranging from locally made pepperoni and spicy nduja to locally grown oyster mushrooms.

Beyond pizza, there’s plenty more to get stuck into, with pastas, snacks and sharing plates made for the middle of the table. Think nonna’s meatballs, arancini, wood-fired Tuscan cheese with flatbread and seasonal vegetables. And because Italy knows a thing or two about dessert, save room for tiramisu or a very good cannoli.

Choose your spot inside the charming church, settle in on the sunny covered patio by the fireplace, or head out to the lawn while the kids hit the playground and say hello to the neighbouring horses and goats.

Then order up large and kick back with a spritz or sangria, one of SUNDAYS’ signature cocktails, a Central Otago wine or a local beer on tap. Now, how’s that for a perfect Sunday afternoon – or, for that matter, any afternoon?
