Set by the sands of Tāhunanui Beach in Nelson, La Farina Pizza and Pasta Bar champions provenance and patience. Locally owned and operated, the team crafts as much as possible in-house, drawing on ingredients from nearby suppliers and flour that is 100% New Zealand-grown and milled in the South Island from pure non-GM wheat.

At the heart of it all roars a genuine Italian wood-fired oven, fuelled by clean-burning native wood that lends a whisper of smoke and a lick of char to every bite.

The cooking leans towards traditional roots with a contemporary spirit. Handmade pastas twirl through rich sauces, from spaghetti Bolognese to chicken carbonara, while stone-baked pizzas range from a pared-back Margherita to the indulgent Gourmet The Boss, layered with chorizo, salami, ham and a swipe of BBQ sauce.

Comfort comes by the bowl in creamy mushroom soup or seafood chowder, and there is seaside conviviality in calamari fritti, mussels steamed in a Neapolitan broth, and slow-roasted pork ribs with fusion glazes.

To finish, tiramisu and Torta Caprese nod to tradition in all the right ways. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are also available, ensuring everyone can share in the feast.
