Veteran chef Stanley Mo worked at restaurants all across Hong Kong and China before establishing his own Chi Kitchen. For the past year Chch foodies have been wowed by authentic Cantonese cuisine based on the dining rooms and street food vendors of China’s Guangzhou region.

Chi's modern minimalist decor accented with a traditional Chinese colour palette of red and gold tones that set the mood for vibrant noodle dishes, dumplings, and stir-fries. Exotic starters include the Steamed Prawn Dumplings, Shao Mai, and Turnip Cakes. Fresh from the wok comes Hokkien Stir Fried Prawns, complemented by Hong Kong style soups with bamboo shoots and braised beef brisket.

Night Noodle Market

Earlier this year Chi hosted the famous (infamous!) night noodle market in Hagley Park where you could say they rather underestimated demand. The joint appeal of al-fresco dining and noodles cooked fresh to order had Christchurch queueing around the block. Chi chefs had to run back to the restaurant for more ingredients each time they ran out and by the end had got through 200 kilos of pork!

Just can’t get enough
