A place many foodies call home, Habitat on the Quay is a visionary and culinary delight.

As their name suggests, Habitat on the Quay boasts an enviable location next to Napier's idyllic waters. With a glass wall looking out over the endless blue, Habitat transports you to the magic of the ocean whilst also treating diners to a schmoozy interior that only gets more beautiful as the evening continues. As the sun sets, a warm orange glow descends, gently illuminating the marble-topped bar, the classic bistro dining hall, and the antique nick nacks that bring a sense of home and history to the establishment.

Heading the kitchen is Chef Gurpreet who is putting his own spin on popular European plates. To begin, graze on some BBQ chicken bites, salt and pepper squid or some fiery jalapeño poppers whilst you take in the views around you. Then, move on to a main dish that doesn't hold back. With the likes of cheesy chicken parmigiana, slow-cooked lamb shank with velvety mash and potato gnocchi in a Tuscan garlic sauce, local ingredients are given a new lease of life, transporting us to the Mediterranean and beyond.

What's more, they make an epic steak. With rib eye, eye fillet and the absolute feast that is the Habitat Special (complete with eye fillet, mash and a beautiful array of seafood), life is enjoyed by the big portion.
