Landing with a splash of colour in Auckland’s restaurant scene is The Red House, a family-friendly establishment with a ‘cosy corner’ and an equally cosy feel! If you’ve chosen a nice evening for dinner, you’re in for an absolute treat.

Settle down after a long day in their rustic conservatory that lets in every last ray from dawn to dusk and overlooks a spacious lawn. Alternatively, curl up in their indoor dining area where homey smells waft around every corner and homemade cakes wink seductively from the bar.

It’s old comforts all the way! For starters, why not try their buffalo wings with a devilish blue cheese dressing, lambs fry with smoky bacon or good ol’ chilli nachos for everyone to get their hands dirty. If the whole gang is here, why not order a sharing platter that's laden with chicken wings, prawns and crusty garlic bread? It's every man for himself!

Then choose from a selection of meat dishes, including some British staples like steak and ale pie, fish and chips and a breaded chicken breast with a cheesy white sauce and chips. Vegetarians fear not! There is a spicy pumpkin and chick-pea tagine as well as a warm winter salad for you to fill your boots. And if you’re looking for something more child-friendly, the pizza menu is your new best friend.

Reviews

Welcoming child-friendly atmosphere, was handy to have lots of seating options near the kids' play area. Had pizza and jalapeño poppers to start. Poppers were cooked to perfection. Mains were brought to our table without delay and the beef and ale pie was perfection. Overall, great casual dining food, good range on offer at the bar. Could possibly do with an extra pair of hands to assist with wiping tables and collecting plastic slushy cups up from the grass outside but this is a minor suggestion. Got kids and wanting a tasty meal? This is the place to go.
