lunch

Set high on one of Waiheke Island’s peaks, Batch Winery looks out across a sweep of land and sea that seems to slow time. The elevated, tranquil perch sets the tone - unhurried, scenic and quietly indulgent. Here, the pleasure lies in the play between plate and panorama, each course a companion to the view.

The menu leans into bright coastal freshness and charcoal-kissed depth. Small plates balance delicacy and flame, from market fish crudo to Josper-grilled black tiger prawns. Mains roam from land to ocean too, with crispy pork belly and seafood linguine, while rosemary roast potatoes and twice-cooked fries bring familiar, satisfying crunch.

For a leisurely graze, vineyard platters are the order of the day - the Batch Platter for a generous spread, or a New Zealand cheese board to linger over. To finish, an airy pavlova nods to a beloved classic, and dulce de leche mousse adds a soft, caramelised hush to the finale. Throughout, the mood is serene and celebratory, shaped by that remarkable outlook.

Settle in, savour the scenery, and let the courses unfold at their own pace. Come for the panorama, stay for the pavlova!
