Cuisine: A La Carte, European, Seafood
Price Point: Mains from $25 - $35+

Sit back, relax and enjoy stunning views of St Heliers Bay and Rangitoto Island.

Annabelles is a long-established restaurant on the waterfront. Bought by Susan Cho in 1998, it’s well loved by locals and visitors alike. The Korean-born horticulture student purchased the restaurant after falling in love with the name, which reminded her of an Edgar Allan Poe poem. This spark of inspiration triggered a long and successful career as owner and maître d' at one of Auckland’s best-loved restaurants.

Susan knows her clientele well and keeps the menu and wine list seasonal and fresh, so there’s always something new to try. Focusing on European style dishes with an exotic twist, Annabelles’ lamb and beef menu has won the NZ Lamb and Beef awards each year for a decade!

Super fresh seafood is another must-try at this restaurant by the ocean. From Susan’s famous seafood chowder, to seasonal delights, Annabelles is a great spot for fresh and seasonal dining.

Great food. Great service. Recommend the lamb.

My two friends and I had a lovely breakfast at Annabelles’s. We each had the fruit platter which was nicely presented and very fresh. I also had the eggs Benedict with salmon which I couldn’t fault. The view is beautiful and we weren’t felt we needed to rush out after eating. Thank you.

Never disappointed; exactly as we would have wished, as in previous visits. Chowder great, meat very tender, dessert just right.

Extremely delicious food!!! Enjoyable evening.

The food was pretty average. The portion were pretty small, and plain. We had to add extra salt and pepper ourselves. The slow cook duck were so hard and dry, it taste like has been over cooked or has been siting in the freezer for a bit. The Lamb rank was soft and juicy, however it has this weird spice taste. Gladly the seafood chowder was better, but again the seasoning wasn’t enough to satisfy. Service was horrible, no smile at all from start till the end. Only 2 people were serving the floor area, every one was trying to get their attention. When we said we are too full from the food, does not want any dessert, the waitress walked away without asking about the quality of the food or smile. Didn’t like the service there at all. The bill wasn’t even fully 50% off, although the 30cents more, but according to the first table policy, it should be exact 50% off, only if I pay in cash then the number can be round it up. Don’t want to argue just for 30 cents.

I was really disappointed with our experience at Annabelle’s. We have had many marvellous meals there over the years, but last night the portions (mains, sides and desserts) were so tiny that we were all still hungry. The food was average though nicely presented. Service was slow and minimal - no one asked us how our meals were or anything - yet I later found on the bill that we were charged a tip! For what?! Very disappointed.

We had dinner with excellent atmosphere, and good food.

We used to dine at this place frequently for many years as a family however it is not the same anymore and its sad given the views overlooking the beach and the experiences we have had there in the past. We waited for ages to be seen and seated, we made eye contact but still left ignored, there was very little customer service as we had to ask for drink refills and dessert menus. Food didnt all come out at the same time and I had to ask for cultery. The whitebait fritters was more eggy than whitebait, duck fat chips means only 2 chips with your steak.
This restaurant is not cheap when paying full price so you would expect great service at least if not you dont agree with the food.
I really hope they can bring back the experience and the amazing food that made this place your favourite go to.

The location is superb being on the waterfront and the live music excellent.
We were disappointed with the food - although fresh and a good selection, was overwhelmingly bland. The whitebait fritter was a good size (2 of them) but the sauce was a dash of mayonnaise with nothing else to give it a bit of zing. Both the terakihi and the veal dishes were slightly overcooked and were reminiscent more of mother's home cooking than an award winning restaurant. Pleasant enough.

Waiter was a bit over eager at the start but calmed down after getting our drinks order. I'm assuming they were still new to the working environment but overall they made us feel comfortable and was a very enjoyable experience. Also the restaurant has a great vibe to it. I would recommend it as a any day any time is a great time to dine there. Plus the food was amazing! Steak was cooked to perfection as requested. And the duck was scrumptious!

The food was unfortunately awful, truly heartbreakingly bad. We ordered the duck spring rolls which had ingredients in them that were definitely past their best before, the whitebait fritters which was like eating thick fishy bread, duck fat chips which were saturated in oil and very soggy, and the main beef dish which was tough and sitting on expired spinach. The service was intimidating and rude.

We had a lovely time at Annabelles. I had the haloumi seemed buns for entrees and they were delicious. I had the eye filet steak for mains which was cooked perfectly. The setting is beautiful, being able to look out to the sea and Rangitoto while eating dinner was awesome. The only criticism I would have is that I ordered brocolli as a side which would normally cost $8, and all I got was 3 plain pieces of brocolli. I thought they might have garnished them with something or made them a bit more exciting, but I suppose you wouldn't want too much of a different flavour as it might not go with what someone has chosen for a main. But all in all I thought it was a nice restaurant with good food.

Nice treat for my Dad's 75th birthday, the location was a surprise and he was thrilled! The calamari and duck spring rolls were the highlight of the evening, we could have ordered these twice over, flavoursome and perfect portion size. Not often we say we got too much food but the duck main had too much rissotto for him and the pork belly too much crackling for me. Loved the creme brulee, we didn't sense the bailey flavour but that may have been as we were too full by then. Delicious and great service.
