Biryaniwala’s Janata Lounge bring a lively slice of Indian flavour to Mount Roskill, weaving together comfort, spice and the easy charm of a neighbourhood hangout. It is the sort of place where the first order arrives with a satisfying crunch and conversation quickly finds its rhythm. Casual yet spirited, the bar is made for spontaneous catch ups and unhurried suppers alike.

The culinary journey often begins with veg favourites like masala vada and cut mirchi, both delivering street-side crunch and aromatic heat. From there, chicken 65 and fish pakoda keep the tempo brisk, all crisp edges and bold seasoning.

The tandoor takes centre stage too: tandoori chicken and chicken tikka arrive kissed by smoke, their yoghurt marinades locking in tenderness and depth.

When it’s time to settle in, fried rice and noodles bring a generous Indo-Chinese touch, tossed with vegetables or proteins to suit the mood.

Behind the bar, a polished line-up of whiskies and rums invites easy sipping, adding warmth and a touch of swagger, while refreshing cocktails such as the watermelon mojito or lychee gin sour provide a lighter, lively counterpoint.

Drop by for a round of snacks, stay for the grill and let the good times gather. Book in, bring an appetite and follow the spice trail at Janata Lounge - it is a small journey with a big, delicious payoff!
