Pango Pearl drops anchor in Upper Hutt with a menu that sails between South India and far-flung shores. It's a kitchen with a South Indian heartbeat - idli and biryani - yet unafraid to court global favourites, delivering a spirited, border-hopping feast.

The classics lead the way: Chettinad chicken curry brings heat and depth, while Chettinad chicken biryani and Jeeragasamba mutton (goat) biryani show rice and spice in elegant tandem. Sambar stands ready on the side, and Bahian coconut curry offers a creamy counterpoint, rounding out a collection that nods to tradition without standing still.

Then come the detours: birria tacos folded with beef and cheese, New Orleans shrimp and chicken pasta, and a Southern fried chicken burger for pure crunch, with golden wings to match. Cool-down drinks such as a Sharjah shake and a desert sunrise reset the palate, while pineapple kesari or a chocolate brownie with ice cream brings a sweet finish. Junior provisions keep cravings covered too, from chicken nuggets to fish and chips.

Whether it's a casual bite of tacos or an unhurried plate of biryani, Pango Pearl invites diners to travel by taste. Take a seat in Upper Hutt and let the spices steer - from biryani to birria, it's a voyage worth taking!
