Cuisine: Family, Italian
Price Point: Mains from $25 - $35+

Serving warming Italian food and premium beverages, Soprano is holding all the high notes in Petone.

The restaurant is bright and friendly, offering several unique dining spaces. One is distinctly more intimate, with terracotta walls, dark furniture and dramatic drapes adorning the windows. Another is a more spacious affair, with neutral walls and a more café vibe. So, which one is it to be?

Decisions, decisions; now for the food! Representing all things pasta is their creamy spaghetti salmon and cannelloni with ricotta and spinach amongst other popular favourites. Other mains include a slow cooked, tender Porchetta with greens and a rich lamb shank stuffed with flavour.

You might be looking over the drinks menu for some time! All manner of household names in beer are there as well as well as an extensive list (we’re talking pages) of whites, reds and sparkling wines from all around the world. Kid friendly and always welcoming, Soprano is perfect for any occasion!

And that’s not all... Soprano also has a VIP loyalty club that rewards you every time you go in for a meal or a drink. It's free to join, and you can use it straight away on your First Table booking.

Points are awarded for every dollar you spend on drinks and don't take long to add up. There are also monthly members draws and prizes to be won.

We have not been to Soprano for more than a year and this was an excellent opportunity to grab an a weekend dinner.

We had the Calamari for starters, lamb shank and fish of the day that was a full snapper for mains, Tiramisu and apple crumble for desert and we enjoyed all of them.

The service was excellent. The waiter was very attentive, always checking whether we're done or not -from a distance so as not to be intrusive-, plates are cleared and the next meal would be brought reasonably quickly but not rushed at all.

5 star experience that will certainly see us going back

We had a really enjoyable dinner at Soprano. The service was relaxed and attentive, and the food was delicious. We liked that you can see the kitchen and the chefs cooking as you walk in.

Food and service were fantastic, pasta was to die for. Can’t wait to come back with friends.

Service was amazing and attentive and the food quality matched. The entrees were quite nice and the cannelloni was cooked perfectly

Wow, what a great experience. This is no spaghetti house, although you can order pasta. All four of us enjoyed beautifully cooked mains - the fish, crispy ski snapper on a celeriac puree with fresh asparagus and shaved parmesan, was absolutely delicious, while my husband's duck on risotto was also sublime. Sides were generous and reasonably priced - the polenta chips and shoe-string fries coming with very tasty aioli the former with a capsicum twist. My daughter and I share the trio of ice-creams - all handmade and velvety. The service was, polished. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience I would highly recommend.

Great friendly service, our family was welcomed at the door and shown to our table. Nice atmosphere and a steady flow of people coming in for dinner. Food was tasty. Looking forward to coming back and having more of the mussels and calamari they were fresh, full of flavour and our young ones who don't normally eat seafood enjoyed these too. We ate a lot but still felt great afterwards. Thanks for an awesome dinner..

We had a delicious, flavourful, scrummy meal on Sunday night. The portion sizes were great, in fact my linguine main was so big I couldn’t finish it so took it home for next days lunch. The mussels were fat and juicy and my husband’s steak was cooked perfectly. His crumble dessert was the best he had tasted. Great place to dine and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were attentive as usual.

We dined here on a Friday night, they were busy, but with several dining area's we were still able to hold a conversation. The service was attentive without being intrusive. I am coeliac and the waitress double checked with the chef the food was safe, and the food was delicious. Will certainly be back. Thank you.

Had a really great meal at Sopranos last night. Started with garlic bread and a generous serving of delicious olives and some lovely calamari. Our mains....Husband had the fish of the day, grouper in a lobster broth and I opted for the creamy salmon spaghetti . Both were lovely...My pasta serving was very generous and I had to enlist the help of the big fella to finish it off....next time I will order the smaller portion and then maybe I will have enough room left to enjoy one of the delicious sounding desserts on offer. The waitstaff were friendly and didn’t hover. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with numerous dining rooms, rather than one big eating area...Such a great idea if you want a nice quiet meal with friends and you don’t want to have to listen to noisy conversation from everyone else in the restaraunt.....Well done Sopranos.

The food was simply as good as it can be. We had the mussels and the squid for an entree and both were to die for. The squid light and chrispy and the mussels juicy and flavoursome. My steak was tender and succulent. Without doubt one of the best meals I have had in a very long time.

Soprano in Petone has been around for a long time and for a good reason. It ticks all the boxes: good service, ambience, and tasty food.
We arrived at 5pm and managed to get through two delicious courses before our 615pm movie down the road at the Lighthouse.
The lamb entree and fish main course were beautifully presented and very tasty.
Although we ordered wine by the glass, they do allow BYO as well.
We will be back!

We had a great meal here the other night. Plates were scraped clean. Service was also attentive and friendly.
I'd been there twice before and this time had suggested it to some fiends who had not been. We used the First Table option. Obviously it's a great deal however, with 4 of us it was too rushed. The time line is 90 mins..we all felt rushed. By the time we'd said hello, perused the menu, ordered drinks, got bread, and then our meals ..we had just 31 mins to eat and be out the door. It might work if there's just two people, or if there aren't 3 others tables with small groups at the same time.
It also meant that there was no time for dessert (and we would have happily ordered because there were great choices ). When we left the restuarant had loads of empty tables so it seemed a bit of a lost opportunity to make more $$from us with drinks, coffee, dessert due to the time frame. I think 2 hours is more realistic time. Obviously we'll be back due to the great food, service and the ease of parking.

Great service! The salmon wasn't a great choice, but the rest of the food was amazing.

It looks like Sopranos is the only place I dine. As always the food and service was outstanding. Poured my drink all over myself. Staff promptly assisted with the clean up and a refill. As usual I ate too much but at least I've learned to wear my stretchy pants.

We celebreted my husband's birthday at Soprano in June. It's been a wonderful dining experience, most probably one of best places in Petone we have ever visited!
Very friendly, caring and welcoming staff, fantastic food all way through from starters to desert. I recommend to try duck and lamb - absolutely delicious and cooked with love.
We defenitely will be back soon for my birthday!
Many thanks to Soprano staff, we enjoyed our evening a lot.
Best wishes,
Bela

I love the food here. I also love the service. Nothing is ever a problem. I ordered from a photo I'd received. I later discovered, what I had ordered was not even on the menu. It was a special a friend had ordered when dining at Sopranos. The waiter didn't mention this when he took my order. He just wrote it down and the kitchen served it up.

My mummy took me out for a dinner date at our favourite restaurant, Sopranos in Petone. i was very excited because i love the food there and the waiter is a really nice man. we saw our favourite waiter and he was very kind. we ordered the loveliest, tastiest food like pate and bread and calamari. yummy. and then i had an ice cream sundae for pudding. all of the food was so delicious and the waiter was so kind. he made us feel very welcome. I love Sopranos. it is my favourite restaurant in the world.

The food and service are consistantly great. Hubby loves his steak. This man is committed in his quest to find the ultimate steak and he thinks he may have found it. A 450 gram rib eye on the bone. The bone provides the perfect handle for this mammoth hunk of beef. Cooked to perfection, eating it will make you feel like a caveman.
