Cuisine: Craft Beer Bar, International, Share Plates
Price Point: Mains from $15 - $25

A slice of indie East London in cutesy Petone, at Queen of Jackson you'll find an international sharing menu and rotating beer selection.

Enjoy Petone's glittering coastline from their stunning rooftop garden bar which has become a fixture in the town's skyline. It's catered for NZ's typically unpredictable weather with an extendable roof and heated seats for those kinds of days that try and blow us off our feet. Plus it comes with 14 beer taps so you don't have to trudge up and down the stairs.

The menu takes a no-frills attitude and concentrates on the quality of its ingredients. Take the opportunity to sample as much as possible and order several sharing plates for the table, like their pulled pork tacos, chicken karaage, wakanui beef dumplings and bao buns that come vegan or with chicken. Mop up every last bit with some grilled flatbreads or add some crunch with their charred broccoli.

And with the beers changing from one day to the next, you can always count on an exciting beverage you won't have tried before.

Great experience! The food was amazing, dumplings were the winners of the night for us! All the food was ready quickly and the cocktail selection was a nice plus. Will definitely be visiting again.

First time diner here - party of four; food was great enjoyed a number of dishes special mentions they prawns, the salt & pepper squid, the mango chicken salad as well as the Bailey creme bruelee. Quick service on tabling food; great table service and overall customer service & engagement by all the team.

Absolutely love dining here. The service is amazing. I appreciate that there is always someone close by if we need to order and someone comes by regularly topping up our water. However they are totally non invasive! We had multiple staff cater to us at different times and had a positive experience with each of them. The food is absolutely to die for and not overly expensive even at normal price. The table we sat at are very comfortable which is important for me when I'm in a food coma by the end of the night. Top service, top quality food.

Girls night out - where to go that suits everyone was the question. Queen of Jackson was definately the answer! The Queen of Jackson in Petone did not disappoint. Their small plates menu was really diverse - something for everyone and everything was delish. They do enough on each tasting plate for everyone at the table, so we had four of everything. Variety galore and every dish was simply amazing! Great selection of drinks and can thorougly recommend the non-alcoholic Elderflower mocktail. A totally successful night out - 4 x A+ to Queen of Jackson - we will be back!!

We had such a nice meal. The food is on another level completely from the bar style food you might expect from a place that isn’t exactly a restaurant, but what we ate rivals plenty of restaurants I’ve been to. Perfect sharing style plates to go with the extensive drinks list. Service was excellent too, friendly and helpful without being overbearing.

The wait staff were friendly and attentive, recommending the shared banquet to try a little of everything. Our favourite dish was by far the orange salad, followed by the calamari which was lightly battered and delicious. Dumplings were yum. The duck mousse dish was average as was the bread which was seasoned very strongly with salt and not overly appetising. The fried chicken with kimchi was also not a crowd favourite. We enjoyed the brulee and it's better shared with two as the portion is large. What ruined the entire experience was the very rude manager. Upon going to pay we were told our banquet was not included in the first table deal despite their staff recommending it to us and advising it was a great way to try everything at half the cost. He tried bullying us into paying full price even when we explained we wouldn't have chosen what we did, if his staff hadn't recommend it. Instead of simply apologising and admitting fault, he stormed off into the kitchen to ask the waitress in question, returning to loudly announce 'she will be paying the difference'. We was arrogant, horrible to his staff and us and we will never ever be going back.
