Second time celebrating my birthday at Oli&Mi and was not disappointed. The food was superb as always. Would highly recommend the tasting platter for two as you get to try all the entres. The steak was so juicy and perfectly cooked to our liking. Very good wine selection!

Looking for a dining experience? look no further, Oli and Mi is the real deal.

My wife and I decided to check out Oli and Mi after passing by the place few times in the past 3-4 months and when I realised it's available on First Table we seized the opportunity.

The restaurant space is like several others in Petone i.e. relatively small seating area, but the clever use of available space made us feel cosy enough but not cramped by other tables. The service was also very attentive without being intrusive.

The food was divine. Do not let the "limited" menu fool you; every plate is "engineered" in terms of presentation, and portion and this allowed us to enjoy the shared platter (recommended especially it's your first time there ), the beef four ways, and the sticky date pudding with a lemon'ish gelato (not your standard vanilla but just as good).

Oli's website promotes dining experience and it sure was one that we enjoyed so much that we are certainly going back.

Arrived to warm welcome. Staff were quick to seat us and give us menus. Very accommodating (happy to extend Tapas platter from 2 to 3 people.
We chose a sauvignon blanc which was explained as not being traditional in taste (not a regular Marlborough style) so gave us a taste before hand in case we were not a fan.
The shared Tapas were excellent. Had the fish of the day as did partner and both loved it. Beautifully presented.
Had to go for desert to finish off, sticky date for me and an espresso creme brulee for him - rated highly.
Would definitely rate this place and will be back.

The food and service was fantastic! Good had great flavours and ingredients, and cooked exquisitely. Would recommend getting the sharing platter/tapas for starters. You get to try a bit of everything- each item is delicious- and this was our favourite dish of the night. We ordered the pork belly and the chicken for mains, both of which were good portion sizes. We had the meringue (presented in a cool wee frozen jar with a combo of sauces/flavours) and the espresso creme brûlée. Friendly waitstaff. Overall a fantastic experience and would love to come back again in future!

Myself and 3 work colleagues decided to go out for some team bonding and spoil ourselves, and that we did. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special by the front of house gentleman. We were showed to seats and felt right at home by the down to earth waitress who answered all our questions about the menu. The atmosphere was quaint and quiet, we did not have to shout at one another over loud music and chatter like some other restaurants. We shared the platter which was mouth watering delish. All our main meals were perfecto followed by the most amazing desserts. A "Big Shout Out" to OLI & MI. I will definitely return with my husband for a romantic meal and experience other First Table restaurants. First Table was a great find when searching the internet for a meal out.

OLI & MI was a wonderful dining experience and the staff were extremely accomodating to last minute change of plans in terms of guest numbers. Our waitress was so charismatic and helpful in terms of recommending things to us. We mostly has tapas, sides and desserts - all of which were delicious. The bao buns, arancini balls and potato and leek curry puffs were a hit among the table. We also really loved the duck fat roasted potatoes and the handmade sodas which tasted so fruity and fresh! We couldn't believe how beautiful the dishes were plated especially the snow egg meringue which was a definite show stopper. Only downside was that we were not allowed to split the bill (or pay for the things we ordered separately). However, my friends and I will definitely be back - thank you so much for such a great night and birthday!

It's the little details that count, and Oli and Mi Kitchen have realised this. The service was professional, accommodating, and welcoming. Food was prepared carefully, thoughtfully and taste was magnificent across everything we had. From a sharing platter up first, to the Cut of the Day being the perfect medium rare, to the Melt-in-your-mouth Whittaker's chocolate fondant dessert, everything was stunning.

Dining at Oli & Mi was a highly enjoyable experience. We tried the starter platter and loved everything on this. We followed this with the beetroot dish and a pork belly dish to share and both of these were delicious. The meals are not large so you can manage a starter and a main especially if (like us) you choose to share everything. I will go back again for sure.

Cannot fault this restaurant. The food is exceptional with great combinations and flavours. Presentation is just amazing. They say you eat with your eyes and this is definitely the case.
Four of us had the Share Platter which is delicious way of tasting the beautiful entrees.

This is the 2nd time we have dined at this Restaurant, first time wasn't First Table but so glad that Oli & Mi have gone on to FT and at a good time to dine of 6pm. We were celebrating a birthday and there were 4 of us so the savings on the $$ was excellent. We shared two platters which gives you a taste of each of the entree's available, really good idea. We all had different mains and everyone was satisfied with their choice. Three of us chose dessert and each had a different choice and everyone was happy. The front of house service can not be faulted, very friendly and the young lady who bought our meals explained what she was serving. Would definitely dine here again.

Oil & Mi is a wee gem. Amazing food and great service. If you’re having three courses make sure you allow a couple of hours, everything is cooked from scratch and takes a bit of time. In saying that when you’re at the table with good company who cares. Will definitely be visiting again and again.

My first table restaurant booking and what an excellent start to this awesome service!

I have been a local in Petone for a little over a year now and had always walked past Oli & Mi several times a day, and it is always super busy, got to be a good sign right!? I booked a table for two through first table for a special one-year anniversary. Upon arrival we were greeted by the host in a very welcoming manner and quickly seated by the helpful waitress.

We ordered sparkling water to start from the waitress and then the host came and explained the menu to us in great detail which was nice and gave us the knowledge to make an informed choice on what we decided upon for starter and main. As a starter we got the Oli and Mi tasting platter which gave us a taste of everything on their tapas menu, a wise choice to try everything, so many tasty treats all on one plate.

After our tapas it was a reasonable period of time in-between our mains arriving, it was crispy pork belly for me, and five spice duck breast for my partner. The mains continued to build upon the amazing treats our taste buds had just sampled on the tapas platter.

Everything was cooked to perfection, the knowledge of staff on the menu and product and how specific items were prepared was just phenomenal. As an example, I had what looked like a semi hard round orange lolly on my plate, when I asked what it was, it was explained to me that it was a cured egg yolk, and the host went into detail on how they are prepared.

Thanks Oli & Mi for helping me and my partner celebrate a special occasion and thanks to first table for giving us the opportunity to experience a nicer restaurant at a discounted price. We will be going back to Oli & Mi and most definitely using first place again :)

“OLI & MI Tasting Platter for two” is a must. Really enjoy every bits of it!! The duck breast is the highlight of the evening. Do save some space for dessert - Whittaker’s 72% Dark Chocolate Fondant is the best !! Worth the wait!! The hot larva flow down after the first cut. Yummy!! ♥️♥️ Would definitely come back soon!!

I'd been looking forward to getting to try the food at Oli&Mi for ages and it definitely didn't disappoint! Fantastic warm service and explanation of the menu was a great start. We had the tasting platter to start, followed by the duck (which was slightly over the advertised pink, but still fabulous!) and the paella. The Creme Brule and chocolate fondant were delicious. I wanted to lick every plate. Well worth the trip out to Petone from Wellington. Beats many places there.

In our view, Oli & Mi is the best restaurant in the whole Petone/Hutt Valley region! The service is amazing, right down to helping with the wine selections and menu choices, and the food has never failed to impress. The flavour combinations are well thought out and you can really tell the owners and staff care about the food and wine they serve. If you haven't been, try it. You will not be disappointed.

Peter you were amazing!!!
My daughter and I and my grand daughter who was celebrating her 11th birthday dined here on September 27th. Peter's vast knowledge of the menu was amazing, there were items on our plates that we were not sure of eg, the salted cured egg yolk with the pork belly and the okra....explained to us in detail about how the egg was cured, we actually thought it was some kind of jellied delicacy, we were gobsmacked to find out it was an egg yolk lol, the tapa platter for 3 was amazing too!!!! The prawns, say no more!!!
I myself ordered the seafood paella, the mussels and the prawns were absolutely OMG!!! My daughter ordered the duck, cooked to perfection, can't say enough about the desserts, sticky date pudding was my choice and much enjoyed. Overall the service from Peter from the time we stepped in the front door to the time we left was on point. We will definitely be coming back here again. Thanks Peter for the run down on the name of the restaurant and how it came to be, we actually thought you may have been Oli ....and we wondered if the Asian chef may have been Mi lol...
Kind of cute hearing it was the name of the owners 2 young daughters.
As this was our first encounter with First Table dining, all 3 of us would like to say it was the most enjoyable evening, the setting was lovely, the mood was perfect and Peter you made our dining experience the best!!!

A wonderful dining experience at OLI & MI last evening! Staff were friendly and efficient, and menu explained. My husband enjoyed the seafood paella, while I loved the crispy pork belly, beautifully presented and included ingredients that I had never had before. The okra, broad beans, cured egg, parsnip puree and red wine jus combined wonderful with the 'fall off the fork' pork, with a good crispy skin.

My husband really enjoyed the sticky date pudding, and I loved the snow egg meringue which included small meringues, kiwifruit granita, guava jelly, coconut, candyfloss and mango sorbet, unusually presented in a jar. The unusual ingredients melded well together. All in all, a great evening, and we would certainly return.

Absolutely amazing dining experience. We had a table of four and started off with two tapas sharing platter which was a great variety of flavours and tastes. The highlights from the mains and desserts were the steak which was just phenomenally cooked (best ever) and the most amazing cinnamon toffee sauce that went with the Sticky Date Pudding. Oli & Mi was recommended by several friends so we thought why not give it a go! The waitress was very friendly and informative, telling us the specials and also recommendations. We started with the sharing platter, which was a great idea to try all of the tapas. The portion sizes were great, and the sides were lovely. The dessert and wine topped it all off. We were greeted with a smile and a very enthusiastic staff. He took our jackets and guided us to our table. Environment was warm and well lit in such a cold Wellington day. Our menus were explained and when our tapa platter came out, again more explanations were provided on each of the gorgeous colourful eye catching array of morsels. The pumpkin and ricotta dumplings were beyond this world. Such a beautiful rainbow of food to tickle every taste bud. We also ordered the cured salmon entree, beef 4 ways (again gorgeously plated on a wooden board), and the whole fish. Again delicious! For dessert we ordered the meringue which had the tastiest raspberry sorbet and the chocolate fondant beautifully cooked to perfection. Such a wonderful way to end a meal. Really enjoyed the service. I didn’t catch the name of the maître d but he was funny, enthusiastic and welcoming. Definitely go back as I saw numerous other dishes pass our table that looked amazing. Well done Oli and Mi.

We also had the lamb which was so succulent and tasty. I’ve been to Oli and Mi a couple of times and their tasting platter never disappoints! Everything in this platter is beautifully served and full of flavour. Another must try is their Beef Four Ways which you would definitely like in many many ways! Customer service is great and each food served on the table is well explained by the staff. These are just a few reasons I keep coming back for a gastronomic adventure in Petone!

Interesting little restaurant and menu. It was great to sample the shared tasting tapas which gave us a taste of all the delicious starters. Fish and steak dishes were perfectly cooked and the expresso creme brulee was superb.

Lovely restaurant, lovely staff, and the BEST desserts we’ve ever had! The coffee crème brûlée was outstanding- even presented in a coffee cup. The chocolate fondant was so decadent and well balanced by the sorbet and gels. A-MA-ZING. Definitely worth coming in just for dessert!

We had been recommended this place by friends and I have to say...it was amazing!! Service was brilliant and so accommodating (squeezed us in early due to to going to a show) and were so helpful talking us through the menu. Sharing platter was absolutely delish and great was to try a little of everything and the beef four ways and steak were amazing. Would recommend to anyone to stop off here on your way in to Wellington. We will be back next time we are in Wellington to try some of the other dishes.

I liked the food. It was very well cooked. Unfortunately I was shocked by the very little amounts of food . Not filling at all. Surely a bit of veges and carbs could be added to the food worth $39. I wouldn't go there to eat when I am hungry.

What an experience! This was my first time trying First Table so I was a little bit nervous about the whole experience however OLI & MI couldn't have been more accommodating to us first-timers. We were greeted by friendly staff and directed to a lovely table by the window. Staff were highly attentive at taking our orders and explaining the menu. Nothing seemed (excuse the pun) off the table for us as FT customers. We happily ordered the tasting platter (an absolute MUST), the duck main, fish of the day and a dessert each. The payment process was very simple with the 50% off food. I would highly rate this restaurant - the food is delicious. Asian-fusion type meals that are packed full of flavour.

Amazing in Petone!!
Having found this Restaurant purely by accident both my husband and myself were surprised with our first impressions of the decor however this was nothing in comparison to the amazing meal and service.
The server welcomed as to the restaurant and had us seated and watered in no time (extremely friendly server). Then the server explained the menu which had as salivating from the start and suggest a great wine to go with it. We both went for the OLI & MI Tasting Platter for two for entree which I would rate as the best starter we have had in a very long time (extremely generous portion). The scallops were beautifully cooked and fresh, another favourite was the Buttermilk Fried Chicken.
Then onto main...we both ordered the steak (the last first table we went to at a well known restaurant overcooked their steak so badly it was inedible so we were apprehensive), but once the steak arrived our fears were alleviated. The steak was extremely expertly cooked and most importantly well rested (something generally missed by most chefs). It was buttery to cut, with the most delicious of flavours which were well paired with the duck fat potatoes and seasonal greens we ordered for sides...YUMMY! For dessert I ordered the Espresso Crème Brulee which had a fantastic flavour. To finish we had the most sensational ristretto. All and all a fantastic dining experience that we will be repeating again!

Second time celebrating my birthday at Oli&Mi and was not disappointed. The food was superb as always. Would highly recommend the tasting platter for two as you get to try all the entres. The steak was so juicy and perfectly cooked to our liking. Very good wine selection!

We highly recommend Oli & Mi to all. This was our second time there (our last was three years ago and we definitely won’t leave it this long for our next visit). We shared the tapas for two and everything was incredibly delicious! I had the beef four ways for main and my partner had the beef of the day (rib eye), which were both also great. Fabulous service. Looking for a dining experience? look no further, Oli and Mi is the real deal.

My wife and I decided to check out Oli and Mi after passing by the place few times in the past 3-4 months and when I realised it's available on First Table we seized the opportunity.

The restaurant space is like several others in Petone i.e. relatively small seating area, but the clever use of available space made us feel cosy enough but not cramped by other tables. The service was also very attentive without being intrusive.

The food was divine. Do not let the "limited" menu fool you; every plate is "engineered" in terms of presentation, and portion and this allowed us to enjoy the shared platter (recommended especially it's your first time there ), the beef four ways, and the sticky date pudding with a lemon'ish gelato (not your standard vanilla but just as good).

Oli's website promotes dining experience and it sure was one that we enjoyed so much that we are certainly going back.
