Nua Thai Rototuna brings the bold flavours of Thailand’s north-east to Hamilton.

Thai-owned and Kiwi-loved, it has been Waikato’s first Essarn-focused Thai restaurant since 2022 - celebrating the region’s hot, sour and savoury signatures with a modern touch.

Across the menu, the kitchen leans into herb-forward tastes and textural contrast as leaf-wrapped bites like Nua's miang kung and raw preparations like sashimi prawn deliver a clean start.

Meanwhile, the som tum tradition takes centre stage in Nua's tum tard, an iconic papaya salad platter. Classic comforts complete the spread, from the sharp-sour pull of tom yum to the aromatic warmth of tom kha.

Ideal for groups, most plates are designed for sharing. The giant platter answers crowd cravings by pairing fried rice and papaya salad, and the clay steamboat for two invites a slower hotpot feast.
