The unofficial social hub of the area, Pleasant Point Hotel is every bit as amicable as its name suggests. Where locals and visitors are invited to hunker down in the main bar or soak in the warm weather in the beer garden, good times are always had in Pleasant's neck of the woods.

A grand, imposing brick building is where they call home. Ask any local and they'll know all about this building's unique history that started off as a family bottle store and is now this landmark hotel. Inside it's super relaxed and social with Pool tables available to flex your competitive muscles. And with other cosier rooms and a sun-loving beer garden to choose from, how you eat your supper is up to you.

The menu features top-notch, homecooked plates that satiate the appetite of every pub-lover up and down the country. Their main meals keep it classic with Canterbury lamb shank with seasonal veggies, crispy chicken schnitzel with a side of your choice and the almighty Pleasant Point Sizzler; so-called because this prime rib-eye steak sizzles in all its splendour upon arrival.

Other showstopping dishes include the towering Pleasant Point burger, the roast of the day that rotates according to the season, a range of creamy pasta and some light meals and salads for anyone who is avoiding food coma. However, with the likes of Kiwi pavlova and traditional apple pie on the menu, we're afraid that good intentions might end up on tomorrow's to-do list. Stick it on the laterbase!
