dinner

Since 2001, India Today Bistro & Tandoor has been a cherished New Plymouth fixture, proudly standing as Taranaki’s first and longest-serving authentic Indian restaurant.

Led by Sunny and his family, the venue pairs a chic, modern dining room with a genuine warmth that turns any meal into a special occasion - a care that extends into the kitchen, where experienced chefs cook entirely from scratch each day, crafting rich dishes in which every bite tells a story.

Drawing on North Indian traditions with Malaysian Indian influences, this curated experience offers layered and assured flavours. The journey might begin with a papadum platter and house dips before moving to chicken tikka from the grill.

For the main course, Grandma’s chicken curry whispers of a closely held family recipe, alongside the gentle richness of chicken korma and the fiery tang of beef vindaloo. Lamb saag brings comfort, while eggplant sabji and paneer tikka masala champion vegetables - all beautifully paired with coconut rice and bright chutneys.

Polished yet personable, this Taranaki hotspot continues to be a family-run destination. So, gather friends and let India Today Bistro & Tandoor take you on a spice-led adventure - no passport required, just an appetite for wanderlust!
