Nestled in New Plymouth, Haukai Bistro and Bar is where local charm meets culinary expertise, inviting you to dive into a rich array of flavours that echo the land and sea.

Haukai's interior, with its cosy lighting and simple decor, prepares you for a close dining experience. Wood touches, and sweeping views of the Taranaki set a scene as stylish as it's welcoming, striking a perfect balance between elegance and a comfy bistro vibe.

The menu, a tribute to New Zealand's bountiful produce, unveils a selection of starters that will awaken your taste buds. You might start with the house-made bread with olive and rosemary butter, or perhaps the daring kimchi and onion flatbread topped with parmesan is more your style. For those seeking a local sensation, the horopito poppadoms served with onion salsa and manuka yoghurt provide a delightful twist. Main courses like the smoked lamb belly with roasted eggplant and the marinated pan-fried squid with squid ink linguini demonstrate the kitchen's skill in combining land and sea with a touch of class.

To enhance your meal, Haukai's drink assortment elevates the dining experience. Be it a crisp local wine or craft beer, every drink is chosen to complement your meal perfectly. And as the night ends, you’ll already be looking forward to your next visit to this New Plymouth treasure.

You may also choose to experience their premier hot buffet breakfast, complete with a selection of hot and cold items, including cereals, juices, cheeses, pancakes, bacon, and waffles. For breakfast bookings, the First Table offer applies to the full price for the full buffet breakfast. The full price for this menu is $34 pp and $19pp for kids 12 and under.
