Mekong Buffalo, Rotorua's newest Asian Fusion Eatery, is a primo destination for those who love diverse flavours from the Orient. With a long list of culinary traditions to choose from, their sharing-plate dining concept is perfect for all group sizes and pretty much any occasion.
As you'd expect, there's a whole range of exciting flavours to feast on. For something fresh, the Mekong Matchaimu is a colourful bowl of matcha, coffee, chocolate, gf cookie, mascarpone cheese, and fresh cream. If you prefer something a little less extravagant, stick with the first-rate Homemade Cheesecake, which comes with seasonal fruit, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, pistachio and coconut flakes.
Feeling peckish? The Fries are good to pounce on, as is the Cabbage Kimchi if you're in the mood for an out-of-the-ordinary side.
Wanting a more substantial bit of nosh? The Pad Thai is worth a try; a stir-fried rice noodle dish with a mix of cabbage, onion, sprouts, and peanuts. They also offer baby buffalo grade nibbles such as Nuggets and Chips, and Kid Stir-Fried Egg Noodles if you have some quick-to-please tummies on your hands.
Whether you're enjoying a post-work tipple or hitting the town with friends, a great cocktail can be the cherry on top of any given night. Mekong Tai is a tantalising blend of Midori, Malibu, apple schnapps, lime, pineapple, and grenadine, and the 7-spice Yuzu Sour is a citrus-y delight that's worth raising a glass to, too. Be sure to accompany them with a Kyoto Fushimizu or a Korean Classic Soju, if you'd like to take a little risk with your evening.
Come down to Mekong Buffalo this evening and converge between countries of culinary delights.
