Located in the bustling heart of Mornington, Alto Café offers a delightful escape dedicated to the joys of shared dining and leisurely meals.

Step inside and you’ll find a cosy space that melds rustic charm with modern style – the perfect backdrop where laughter, clinking glasses, and the hum of conversation create a warm Dunedin evening atmosphere.

Start your experience with small plates bursting with flavour, or gather friends around one of the signature platters. The cheese and pâté platter highlights local Evansdale cheeses and house-made pâté, while the Ploughman’s platter celebrates cured meats and bold flavours. Plant-based diners will love the curious herbivore platter – a vibrant mix of buffalo cauliflower, falafel, and other vegetarian delights.

Pair your food with something from the bar – from crisp NZ wines and local craft beers to our refreshing range of cocktails crafted to match the season.

Round out your evening with a comforting main or a sweet treat from our dessert menu. And of course, coffee is always brewed to perfection – a nod to the name.

At Alto Café, every visit is an event to savour. Whether you’re reconnecting with loved ones or making new memories, our tables are always set for sharing great food, good drinks, and genuine hospitality.
