Tucked just moments from the scenic Whangārei Town Basin, the Fat Camel Café is where builders and bankers, suits and slippers all gather for good food and good company. In true Mediterranean style, plates are made to share, and even a solo glass of wine can lead to new friendships.

Whether it’s midday bites or evening cravings, the Fat Camel serves up a warm welcome at any hour. With friendly staff who remember faces, every visit feels familiar – perfect for regulars and wanderers alike.

A visit to the Fat Camel Café invites diners to share and share alike. Alongside traditional mezze platters featuring hummus, baba ganoush and falafel, there are hearty main plates designed to satisfy. Each plate comes complete with fragrant rice, creamy hummus, crisp salads and a cooling yoghurt mint sauce.

Settle into the lively courtyard at the Fat Camel Café and dig into hummus, falafel balls and warm pita. It’s the kind of spread that turns heads and stirs up food envy in every season.
