Cuisine: Mediterranean, Moroccan
Price Point: Mains from $15 - $25

The Mediterranean might feel like worlds away, but at Mosaic by Simo it's a vibrant plateful away. Armed with meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes, who says the Med is a 24-hour flight away?!

Informal and chilled, this cutesy eatery has laid-back canteen vibes. It's the perfect place for an early family supper or a catch up with mates after work.

There's nothing itty-bitty about the dishes here; they serve hearty meals that feed heart and soul. For mains, you can choose from Med-inspired burgers. There's the Casablanca beef burger, Marakesh express or a red ruby, filled with juicy roasted beetroot and falafel for the vegetarians out there. There's nothing more warming than a rich, slow-cooked tagine. There's a Moroccan lamb number as well as one with tender lemon chicken, Moroccan meatballs and berber couscous.

If you want dinner all wrapped up, souvlaki and bocadillos serve up tortilla realness with all kinds of delicious fillings. Then finish it off with a Moroccan mint tea and hit refresh!

A wonderful meal. We chose the large $50 platter (before 50% discount). It had at least 12 different small tastings plus sauces/ dips and trimmings. In addition there was an appetizer spread of yoghurt, olives, humus etc. This gave us delightful mix of new flavours. Service was exemplary and friendly throughout.

Tasty food and very friendly service in an unassuming cafe-styled eaterie. We really loved the lamb and prune tangine with the tasty rice. Not too fond of the hummus which was kinda runny but loved the beetroot dip. The baklova was totally yummy! Prices were very reasonable. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu.

Don't let the exterior or the Take a Way sign fool you. Received hospitality and incredible service that would put many up market restaurants to shame. The food was well presented, visually appealing and a delight on your taste buds. The Birthday girl said it was the best ever sticky date pudding that she has ever eaten. A gem of a find. Will definitely be back.

I probably shouldn't say this but the Mosaic on Riccarton Road is way better than the one in Addington - Just sayin

I was excited to try out Moroccan food as never had before. I was even more happy to find I could eat it with my fingers.. the platter that is. It just makes it an even more cultured experience. Our host was absolutely lovely and all smiles. Loved the decor too. A wee bit of a wait at the start but I guess that's probably normal when ordering a platter and with how well arranged it was it makes sense the time put into it.

Thanks again

Cosy cafe, serves as both eat in and take away. Warm friendly service. We shared a Simo platter for two - good variety and plentiful. We had to take away a doggy bag as could not finish it all.

We got the sharing platter - great range of food and lots of it! Very full and satisfied after. Thanks Simo Riccarton

The atmosphere is pretty simple but the food was great, along with good service from friendly staff. We wanted to try a variety as we seldom eat Moroccan food so ordered the platter for 2, which was huge, along with a couple of other dishes. Everything was great and would highly recommend.

Great speedy service food was yum

More suitable for takeaways and not a night out. Selection of food is limited, and what was on the menu was unavailable. No atmosphere at all.
