lunch

In Merivale, Christchurch, Strawberry Fare’s Spring Indulgence offers a gorgeous daytime escape, with its warm, welcoming dining room opening onto picturesque views of Hagley Park. The kitchen holds a playful streak, favouring bright flavours and well-loved classics, where freshness and comfort arrive hand in hand.

By lunchtime, the rhythm is relaxed: prawns glossed in herb butter with gremolata share the stage with a crisp Caesar salad topped with a poached egg, while hot-smoked Akaroa salmon is elevated by lemon crème fraîche and apple slaw. Light or hearty, it is all assured and inviting.

Main course choices bring skilfully crafted warmth to your table. Pan-fried market fish is served alongside gourmet potatoes and a fresh green herb sauce, while the spinach and ricotta ravioli pairs beautifully with a rich tomato marinara and garlic bread. It is seasonal cooking with polish, perfectly tailored to a cosy winter-long lunch.

For the grand finale, dessert brings a delightful conclusion to the three-course experience. Indulge in a warm sticky date pudding with caramel-orange sauce, a hazelnut caramel tart, or a classic crème brûlée, with gluten-free and vegan options thoughtfully included to ensure everyone ends on a blissful note.

Take a seat, save room, and let the sweet life begin!
