Cuisine: A La Carte, Grill, New Zealand
Price Point: Mains from $20 - $35+

Well, if you like steak we reckon we've found just the place for you! Head to Three Cows where they'll inevitably brighten up your moooood.

Perfect for groups and jovial catch-ups, gather the herd and relax in this friendly, informal spot. There's no hiding here; with a completely open plan dining area, you can relax into the chitter-chatter around you. The only negative is that you'll be consumed by a terrible condition called food envy.

For lunch, you can go for brunchy options or more hefty plates. If you want to go light, there are brekkie staples like eggs benedict, salmon benedict and omelettes. There are also chicken and salmon tortillas as well as vegetarian and not-so-vegetarian salads. But if you've got a long day ahead, look no further than their open sandwiches, stuffed with steak, chicken or pork belly. There's also the Three Cows breakfast and a pasta of the day.

Make sure you go to dinner with a rumbling tummy! Mains are hearty, to say the least! There are a variety of steaks as well as the immense tower of pork, stuffed chicken and lamb shank. And it's not all about meat! Salmon, scallops and prawns grace the seafood menu and there's a Foccacia melt should a vegetarian dare to step into these four walls.

Great experience thank you! The food was awesome with very generous portions and good quality. But the best part of the whole thing was our server "Peechie" who was a delight to deal with, and even made a couple of invented "mocktails" for our son :-) Thank you Peechie for a memorable and fantastic first table experience!

It's many years since we've dined at Three Cows and our return dining experience for a luncheon meal was really excellent. The meal was piping hot, attractively served and really delicious. The menu had a variety of choices and the service afforded us by the staff was excellent, being efficient and friendly.
They heard it was my husband's birthday and we were surprised by and appreciated their added touch with birthday candles adorning his yummy dessert. Really appreciated this extra and thoughtful gesture. A delight to have dined there,

I have read reviews on different places and have taken them a face value, only to be disappointed. I couldn't fault the food or the service at the Three Cows. The stuffing in the chicken breast was delicious, vegetables were beautifully cooked. The pork belly was also very much enjoyed by my husband. Very generous portions. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will certainly be going back

Our first time at Three Cows. It was well worth the lovely ride out to Kaiapoi. The food quality & presentation was excellent, comparable to fine dining, but better portion sizes. We had a entree & main & couldnt squeeze in a dessert. So next time, its a main & dessert. The waiter was attentive & very helpful. KAIAPOI, you have a gem of a Cafe/Restaurant in your midst, try them out! You wont be disappointed. :-)

Open Sirloin was little disappointing, was very thin and didn't get the cheese I asked

First visit to this restaurant for a light lunch. Service was disappointing, we waited 45 minutes for a salad and a focaccia melt and chips, what was more frustrating was a party of 6 that arrived 5-10 minutes after us were served first, bar staff told us they only had one chef on so I guess the party of 6 got their lunch cooked first. When it did arrive the food was great. No member of staff asked how our meal was. The service at the Christchurch Central restaurant is significantly better.

Overall we were happy with our dining experience. Our boys loved the play area which kept them well entertained.

Food was nice enough. Presentation could be improved and the brownie definitely needed to be warmed.

Interior needs updating, alcoves need to go, my seat at the end had upholstery broken and sticking out and seating needs recovering. Meal was a typical bar lunch. Sticky date pudding was nice. Staff were excellent and welcomed us on arrival and checked in with us regularly.

It was a pleasant experience. The meals were all well present and generous.
The only one thing was the roast potatoes, they weren't roast potatoes please revisit this and get them roasted. The steak was perfect but needed nice chunky chips (weren't an option or on the menu).Roast potatoes would be ok mash not for us.Many thanks will definitely return to Three Cows Kaiapoi.

Food was great. Had the pasta and garlic bread and also the foccocia burger. Great service, and good banter also such good prices even without first table. Was a crappy day so a little cold but that is a given considering the weather. I would highly recommend

Excellent staff and generous portions of food for the listed prices on the Menu. Ordered the small Seafood Chowder as an entree, I have seen other restaurants' Large Chowders be smaller than Three Cows small chowder, and it was delicious to boot. Both our mains were very generous We both couldn't finish them, but the staff gave us Doggy bags to take home. Superb!
