dinner

In Ferrymead, Christchurch, Tony’s Teppan Yaki Japanese Restaurant delivers the kind of dining that lingers in the memory: theatre at the grill, precision on the plate, and hospitality that feels genuinely personal. The teppanyaki chefs are the stars, turning fresh ingredients into a lively performance of flame, flourish and fine technique, while the room hums with the convivial rhythm of shared anticipation.

Flavours move from clean and citrus-bright to deeply savoury and umami-rich. Start your experience with options like beef tataki - thinly sliced, quick-seared rare beef with garlic soy - or the popular takoyaki squid balls. Traditional gyoza dumplings also anchor the spread with classic Japanese warmth.

The main attraction is the teppan a la carte, served with steamed rice, miso soup and teppan vegetables. Choose from succulent "Land" options like eye fillet beef and Canterbury lamb, or "Sea" selections featuring Akaroa king salmon and tiger prawns. For those wanting the best of both worlds, the seafood & meat combo offers a spectacular spread of white fish, salmon, mussels, prawns and scallops alongside your choice of meat.

Tony’s Teppan Yaki Japanese Restaurant turns a meal into a communal celebration, perfect for families, friends and work groups. Pull up a seat at the grill, watch the sparks fly and let the chefs set the pace. Book in, bring an appetite and let the evening sizzle.
