Wow, what a lovely early evening dining experience! We celebrated our daughter's 18th birthday, and she loved it. The shared tapas plates were wonderful. We each commented that our mains were all uniquely plated and very very good. Just squeezed a shared desert in and wasn't sorry. The ambience of sitting outside on a sunny evening with the Botanic Gardens in full bloom, and the Curator's cooks garden there too, was just glorious. Thank you!

First time at ‘The Curators House’. What a wonderful experience we had, from the service through to the food, and the champagne sangria was a lovely compliment to our meal.
Looking forward to revisiting this captivating restaurant again, with family and friends.

The service was excellent..we were greeted the moment we entered the restaurant. The place is tidy and very welcoming..The view from our seat was beautiful, facing the garden and the lake. It was perfect..
The food, we orderd meat tapas for entree, it was so delicious and perfectly executed. We ordered Seafood Paella for main and that was super delicious..The variety of seafood were perfectly cooked and the sauce was very tasty.
We love it, and we will go back again.

Beautiful and elegant restaurant. We sat next to the fire so it was very warm and cosy. We ordered a few tapas for starters and the beef fillet and seafood ragout for mains. Food came out really quickly and was delicious. Desserts were very nice too, nicely balanced and not too heavy. Overall it was a delightful experience for the whole family!

Highly recommend. The venue itself is beautiful, the menu amazing- very hard to pick as so many delicious choices. The food was outstanding when it came. Portions generous, especially the lamb. Great wine selection. Awesome service. One of the best meals we've had in a long time.

Set in the picturesque Botanic Gardens, our night at the Curator's House was one to remember. Before seating at 5pm, we meandered the property's garden alongside the Avon river, perusing the beehive and flowers in bloom (some dishes use the honey from their garden I believe). At opening we were seated at our table for two with a romantic atmosphere next to the fireplace. The service was excellent on all accounts. The Tasting Tapas and a side Serrano cured ham to start, both were brilliant and a must-do if you like to try a bit of everything like I do. For mains we both had the duck, whose pear and almond sauce accompanied the dish superbly - it was quite a large meal as well which is always a positive in my books! For dessert we had the dark chocolate and Bailey's mousse and creme brulee, both of which were fantastic and decked out with tasty accompaniments. It is hard to pick a highlight meal for me because they were all truly top-tier and miles above other restaurants at the same price-point. The value for money was all-round excellent and getting the discount with First Table made it all-the-more better. 5/5

We were the only diners so had immediate service with no waiting. The food was superb...faultless. Ambiance lovely with music not too loud and a fire going. We sat by old leadlight windows with a view to the garden as dusk settled. Magic.

We had a fantastic meal at the Curator's House. It was my mum's birthday and the wait staff were engaging and thoughtful, talking us through the wine selection and they even brought out my mum's dessert with "Happy Birthday" written on her plate in chocolate. The food was absolutely stunning - we all agreed it was the best meal we'd had out in a long time! The beef, lamb and venison were all superb with sauces and potato sides that complemented each dish. The side dish of kumara and turmeric mash was absolutely amazing as well.

There is a gorgeous view looking out to the botanical gardens and the interior is cosy with several fireplaces, candlelight and spanish music. One of my favourite places to go now, for sure!

The restaurant is beautiful with some lovely views over the Botanic Gardens. We had a delicious meal with tapas, mains, and desserts. The almond tart was a particular highlight. The staff were excellent - friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We were never left waiting for service when we were ready to order or needed plates cleared, yet we never felt rushed. They were also happy to work around my dietary requirements. We definitely plan on going back!

The environment was warm with the fire nearby, and views of the garden was stunning. Our server was professional, well-dressed, polite and helpful. The food was plated nicely, and tasted superb. The portion size was generous.
The deserts were the best I have ever tasted.

Wonderful building creates the ambience that greets you on entering. Well met by attentive and friendly staff offering a choice of table. The service was quick and efficient with drinks arriving promptly followed closely by the wonderful mixed tapas entree. Highly recommend this to get a great taste of Spain.
Main courses were excellant and we unfortunately had no room for dessert.
A great experience.

Ive wanted t go for ages after hearing everyone always have good things to cay about the food - well I am now one of those people! We ordered a glass of Cava on arrival - which was filled to the brim (thank you) followed by 2 glasses of wine each over the course of 2 hours. We opted for the tasting platter - a great selection of tapas and just enough to give us a taste! We decided to add the prawns - to die for, the lamb cutlets - were lovely but I think I would skip these next time and we also ordered the Serrano Jamon - oh my giddy aunt the Jamon was excellent! The total bill came to $120 including drinks which we think is EXCEPTIONAL value. Cat wait for Summer - I already have visions of lazy sunny afternoons sipping wine and eating more delicious Tapas in the Curators outdoor area!

This restaurant has improved and in my opinion has now reached a very high standard. Linen napkins which are unusual even in the more expensive places were provided. Table was great with views outside. Small gas fire added to the atmosphere. Good attentive service The Langostinos dish was a good size and the chef, when requested, adjusted its taste to our requirement. I loved the depth of flavour of this dish. The Crema Catalana desert was up to standard and their Affagato with Spanish Brandy is a must try. The reserve red Spanish wine was an excellent choice and went well with the dishes. Recommend this restaurant..

Curators House is a wonderful dining experience. We started by looking through the Curators own garden out the back of the restaurant and looking over the Avon River. We were welcomed and led to a nice table positioned looking out on the garden and river. The house is lovely, and the food fresh and tasty. We had the perfectly seasoned pork and beef meatballs followed by an amazing chicken dish swimming in a delicious sauce and a cordon bleau dish. There was an extensive wine list on offer and the Muddy Waters Chardonnay matched nicely. Dessert was offered but not needed. The Cheesecake looked tempting though. Overall, it's an experience you want to have if you've not been here. You walk away remembering the flavours, aromas and the unique setting and wanting to come back home to the Curators House.

Everything was just perfect. From the Tomaquet with Jamon, which is a must try to a perfectly cooked Venison. You did cook it rare, as me and my partner love it, the Ragout was so delicious that I was spooning every last bit of it.
Your Pata Negra and Smoked Chorizo are also something that I was just amazed.

Our dinner at the Curator's House was fabulous! Our server was very knowledgeable and professional, and all of our food (starters, mains and dessert) were delicious! They also made some personal touch of the desserts I ordered by writing happy birthday and I was really surprised. Certainly one of our favourite restaurants in Christchurch, and we are looking forward to coming again. Thank you for a great evening and for making my birthday so special.

We had a very enjoyable meal at Curators House. We had a table at the window and the room was lovely and warm on a very cold wintry night, the fire was comforting. We were greeted at the door and looked after very well. The food, well nothing but rave reviews here. My wife had the lamb shoulder, beautifully cooked, fell off the bone. I had the steak, once again, the chef cooked it just the way I wanted it, spot on. Highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back. Cheers.

What a fanstastic setting! Had a beautiful evening at Curator’s House for a family birthday dinner. The food was wonderful particularly the Tapas which are rarely done well in most places we have found. There was a huge variety and the few we ordered were superb: loved the clams in a beautiful cream and wine sauce, the peppers and the pork and beef meatballs with potatoes. The lamb shoulder was heavenly with a rich red wine sauce. Was too full sadly to try the desserts but they looked fabulous too. Our waitress was delightful - so friendly and helpful. The ambience was lovely with beautiful outside gardens and a lovely dining area. We were placed in a gorgeous wood panelled room with a fire place and really nice Spanish paintings on the walls. Spanish music was also very pleasant to hear. Thank you all for a wonderful evening: will definitely be returning.

We love the paella that we ordered. The taste is spot on with the tender and tasty squid. The rice was well cooked but not mushy and we can taste the saffron in the background. The seafood was all fresh. The interior of the restaurant had a romantic ambience. It is absolutely beautiful with the Botanic Garden as the background. Highly recommended!!!

Wasnt a great sign from the first when we walked up and saw a table out front that had obviously been there since the lunch hour as the place is closed from 3pm till 5pm. The plates were quarter full of water as it had been raining and there were mussle shells all over the path entering the place. My mushroom and parmesan croquettes ($16 for 4) tasted of fat (deep fried) and our lamb shoulder and venison had no flavour either. However..... we did have a big serving of the meats, the traditional Sangria and the deserts were nice.
