lunch

In Ashburton, Krung Thep Thai Street Food channels the spirit of Bangkok’s bustling stalls into a cool, contemporary canteen.

This is Thai cooking at its best - vivid, aromatic and brisk from the wok, with curries that soothe, spark and satisfy. The Ashburton branch wraps it all in a cosy, sunlit living-room vibe, with comfy booths and petite bistro tables framed by a full glass wall that lets the bustle of the street slip by.

Relaxed by day and softly buzzing by night, it is made for easygoing meals with friends and family.

On the plate, the full spectrum of flavour is on display: citrusy heat in tom yum and gentle coconut warmth in tom kha, springy noodles in pad thai or the fiery tumble of pad khee mao, rice perfumed with wok smoke and the crunch of cashew-laced stir-fries.

Curries roam from spicy green to soothing yellow and bold panang, each ladled with herbs, spice and that unmistakable sweet-sour-salty harmony. For a show-stopper, the crispy pork belly or roast pork noodles, scattered with crunchy cashews, take centre stage.

Street food with polish and a smile, Krung Thep Thai Street Food brings Thailand to Ashburton, one zesty bite at a time.
