A summery escape in Paihia, Nikau Restaurant immerses guests in Mediterranean bliss while serving up the best of New Zealand cuisine.

Where better to enjoy the natural beauty of the Bay of Islands than right here? Located in the Scenic Hotel, Nikau offers a spacious, welcoming setting for any meal. With a cosy fire beside the bar and large windows overlooking lush tropical gardens and the pool, it’s the perfect spot to relax. After dining, take a short stroll to the beach to catch the sunset.

Nikau is home to a team of chefs who skilfully combine local ingredients to craft dishes inspired by all corners of New Zealand, from the shores to the pastures. Speaking of shores, fresh squid is spiced and deep-fried for a must-try calamari dish, served with kimchi on a bed of green salad. The Topeka Point-inspired beef burger showcases the best of New Zealand’s take on the classic: tomato, cucumber, lettuce, and aioli in a fluffy brioche bun.

For breakfast, Nikau's eggs benedict are a staple. With streaky bacon, two poached, free-range eggs, and baby spinach on a toasted muffin, you simply can't go wrong. Or, to keep you energized throughout the day, the Scenic big breakfast offers streaky bacon as well, pork fennel sausage, mushroom, and tomato on toasted sourdough.

Be sure to save room for dessert as the sun sets. Enjoy a sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce and Chantilly cream. Or, perhaps a warm, dense brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and berry compote, perfect for the little ones.

Turns out, Nikau is a summery escape for the whole family.
