The restaurant is located by the water, with great views and a lovely outdoor dining area. Service was attentive, and our food and drinks came out very fast. We had the ika mata, sweet potato bread with coconut butter (a must order in my opinion) and shiitake mushroom sapasui (a good vegan and gluten free option). A great way to spend a summer evening!

The Good Luck Coconut has an awesome atmosphere and it almost felt like we'd popped over to an island for dinner! The food was fresh, light and full of flavour - perfect for a hot summer evening. We tried the chicken thigh yakitori, green pepper tofu salad and the ika mata, and I can't fault them- everything was delicious! And the chicken was cooked perfectly. Their drinks menu also boasted some delicious sounding summery cocktails. I will definitely be back!

We were lucky enough to secure a table at The Good Luck Coconut last night. It worked out perfectly as Winding Up at the ASB theatre began at 7pm. I had the wonderful Ika Mata, thin slices of raw snapper with a delicious coconut cream, lime and mint dressing. I had a side dish of charred beans with amazing roasted sliced garlic. My husband enjoyed his Terakihi and fries, fresh and delicious. Love this place

It was our wedding anniversary and I was looking for something special and I just got my wish.
Food was great. We ordered a sharing platter and although it was enough for both of us, our tummies had enough but our hearts craved for more. Hence, we ordered a mains to share. We somehow managed to devour that as well. The food coupled with mocktail and fab service, made our special day even more special. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Our table was ready at the front of the restaurant with a lovely sea view, complimented with the lovely tropical flora surrounding the outside dining area. Very attentive waiting throughout the meal, also great advice from the waiting staff on the menu and must try interesting cocktails, the ‘Missionaries downfall’ was a good choice for a warm evening complimented with pineapple and mint.
Starting off the meal with ‘Softshell crab sliders’, beautifully cooked and presented along with the ‘Pot sticker dumplings’ that taste like heaven and always a popular choice witnessed by the number of tables eating them! For mains we shared the ‘Luau love’ which allows tasting 4 plates on the same platter, great if you enjoy the many tastes of the pacific or you can’t make up your mind!
The impressive bar staff managed to push the boat out and make me a special coffee with rum and coconut cream which floated on the top. Overall impressive we will be back.

Looooved everything about this place. Been wanting to try it for a while and my expectations were exceeded! Went on a dinner date and ordered a range of shared items. Tried one of 'High Tide' Feast Platter -with a great range of items, from the crispy crab sliders to the slightly spicy chicken everything was a hit- with a side of Shoestring fries - can never go wrong with those- Coconut Rice - which was really flavourful- and the Rainbow Slaw.
To top it up there was a delicious Frozen Margarita special, delicious and fresh.
To complete the experience the staff was really attentive and friendly, which usually makes everything a bit better. Would definitely go back to try the rest of the menu.

Right on the water with the funkiest decor I have seen in a restaurant! A live DJ and a super relaxed island atmosphere was on point! The food is an island fusion style and so delicious. We tried the recommended platter and we were so happy we did! A wide variety of small dishes to tantalize every taste sensation, prawns, pork skewers & pineapple ribs to die for! Our french waiter was so friendly and so attentive... I have recommended this to others already but def will go back! Especially on a relaxing Friday afternoon...

We booked a super last minute First Table here as a friend was in town (visiting from London) and it seemed like a fun name. I arrived a tad bit early but they didn't mind at all and got me setup with a bottle of prosecco and a lovely corner table on some comfy bench-style seating.
The décor of the restaurant is tropical and fresh, and there is no denying it's a tiki inspired restaurant and bar. The atmosphere was relaxed and all the staff were friendly and highly attentive.
We bought the high tide tasting platter and added on some extra dishes to ensure there was enough food for the three of us. The flavours are normal Pacifica and Asian infused, nothing too special or out of the ordinary, however the presentation and actual taste were great! There was a hint of a smoked charcoal for the skewers, the ribs completely melted off the bone, and the sauce with the fried chicken was so zesty and fresh I could have eaten it by itself!
Because the staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was so relaxed we stayed longer to sample their various cocktails - which is where their real flare comes into play (10/10 for cocktails).
Not a drinker? Don't worry - they also have amazing mocktails (which we also tried!). I would be happy to sit and sip mocktails here all day long, especially in summer!

Great place to try if you're looking for a fun bar that serves good food.

I cannot recommend Good Luck Coconut enough! The food was absolutely delicious, and I would highly recommend the Luau Love platter. Great place to share food around as we ordered a few different plates and shared around which allowed us to taste many of the dishes (we had a table of 4). The service was wonderful, and the decor and atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely!

We were delighted with our dinner at The Good Luck Coconut. The Tiki Bar theme is modern and not at all tacky. The service was friendly and not over the top. We ordered both of the sharing plates, all of the food was great, the ribs were awesome. Our teenagers enjoyed sampling all the different dishes. Although there are limited dessert options, they were all good. Don't be put off by the Chocolate Custard.. it was more like a dense chocolate mouse and delicious.

We had passed this restaurant a couple of times and had thought about stopping in but weren't entirely sure. After our dining experience last night we don't know what took us so long - the joys of first table! The food was excellent - well presented, tasty and served quickly. The service was kind, attentive and un-intrusive while working to clear empty dishes and glasses. We had a table come in that was pretty loud so we skipped dessert this time around but will definitely be back and paying full price.

I’d never heard of the restaurant before seeing on First Table. However the staff were extremely accommodating and attentive. Fabulous Auckland Waterfront Location! Everything was fantastic from food to service; ambience to location. Really appreciated the extensive non alcoholic sodas and cocktails which are often sadly lacking. Wine and Cocktail lists were great too. Being a grey rainy night I thought the view and ambiance may not be appreciated to it's full but I was wrong! Sitting inside it was warm, light, cozy and fun! They have really nailed the design and ambiance! Did I mention the staff in their Island attire?! Among the best I have come across. Rain or Shine - Drink or Meal ....Please go and experience our own little island paradise on North Wharf! From Fussy Foodies

By far one of the warmest, most unique, and delicious restaurants we've ever been to. We got to watch a giant storm blow through while seated next to a warm fireplace with exquisite cocktails in hand and surrounded by chic island decor. Delightful. We ended up feasting on the chef's menu which was a little bit of everything and I think it was the first time we've ever been defeated by sheer volume. We tasted all courses but ultimately couldn't fit that last bit of chocolate mousse. Because the cocktails were so delicious and unique we ended up splurging more than usual but it was well worth the price. One for the memory books.

My new favourite restaurant! The food was excellent, just the right amount of tropical flavours. The presentation awesome - my son"s meal came in a large shell shaped wooden bowl, we he loved! The decor is very fun, but not OTT either, about time our sub-tropical Auckland had a place like this!

Went to The Good luck Coconut for a pre-theatre dinner and we were not disappointed. Just loved our shared entrees of Soft Shell Crab Sliders and Ika Mata, fresh and delicious. Main course of Yakatori Chicken Salad was wonderful as was the lightly battered Tempura Fish and Chips. Shared a Coconut Parfait dessert, again scrumptious. Lovely friendly staff, we will definitely return.

The food was presented fantastically and the flavours were unique and delicious. Our favourite dishes were the Ika Mata, Pot Sticker Dumplings and Wild Caught Tiger Prawns. We completely forgot about dessert so that was a fantastic surprise. The serving staff were extremely attentive all night as we stayed for a while. Thank you to the team on Thursday night!

Great location with affordable parking readily available. Waiting staff the perfect blend of attentive without being constantly hovering; which can distract from a lovely social experience. Food was very fresh. Be prepared to try some slightly different mixes of flavours and an overall great menu with 'something for everyone'. Size's of dishes are slightly smaller than average so it's an opportunity to try both a smaller plate as well as a main. Overall great ambiance. Tx

We had a fabulous evening celebrating our Wedding Anniversary! We ordered the Chefs Choice menu! So everything was chosen for you! A surprise to what would turn up at the table. Everything was fantastic and plenty of food! You won’t go hungry. Fantastic service and loved the cocktails

Incredible modern Pacific/Asian fusion. We decided on the chefs tasting menu( bread, fresh pickles, grilled hulihuli chicken skewers, grilled pork skewers, grilled prawns, ika mata, karage chicken, BBQ pork ribs, coleslaw & a chocolate mousse with koko Samoa crumb & mango sorbet.this was so much food. Every dish was perfectly prepared & imaginative.

The setting is chic yet casual & at that time(5:30 pm) there were others dining & having drinks so we didn't feel like we were in a deserted restaurant.

All of the staff were warm & professional, attentive yet not intrusive.

Very highly recommended. For a place that has only been open 2 months they are doing a great job.We will definitely return.

Thanks,

Absolutely fabulous dinner at The Good Luck Coconut. We ordered the set menu and honestly the food just kept coming! Every dish was delish. Upon our arrival the outdoor area was already alive and bustling with people, all to try their amazing tiki bar.
The restaurant section at the back was also busy too!

We ordered Beef Bulgogi Tataki and Smoked Pork Ribs from their 'Small' menu to share. For larger we got Angus Ribeye Fillet and Taro Leak wrapped Chicken Breast.

Food arrived to the table quickly. That beef tataki was absolutely divine! Juicy cuts of tender and soft beef that was beautifully presented on a plate. Amazing flavours from the mustard seeds and nasi pear slices and the jam! The black sesame waffle was also a interesting and unique touch!
Ribs were definitely smokey alright, full of flavour and punchiness.

Mains were absolutely faultless and were delicious! Generous portions, spot-on execution, beautiful presentations and perfect seasoning! It exceeded my expectations by far!

Service was accommodating from start to finish - special mention to the tan-skinned man with the full-on beard and moustache who is very well-experienced and looked after us very well!

Would definitely be back!

Service was great, we ordered 2 share platters we enjoyed the chicken karaage and ika mata, the prawns, chicken skewers, crab sliders and dumplings were average, portions are on the smaller side, we also tried the chocolate custard, koko Samoa mango sorbet dessert and it was delicious drinks and atmosphere were great

- dined at The Good Luck Coconut on

Delicious food and unique cocktails, terrific upbeat atmosphere and seafront location. The portions are somewhat small and so might have been quite pricey without the First Table deal. It was pretty busy so you have to be assertive to get the server's attention, but they were friendly and accurate with the orders. Would definitely go again!

- dined at The Good Luck Coconut on

We enjoyed our food (raw fish, corned beef burger & sliders). Our kids that aren’t fussy found the ribs too spicy & pork katsu burger not quite to their liking. Service great, lovely spot in Wynyard Quarter & great drink selection. Would come back with friends (& maybe leave kids at home). Cheers!

The lovely ambience, great setting and view, friendly and helpful staff, good food and quite good value for money made dining at the Good Coconut a pleasurable experience.
However, First Table patrons are seeking bargain prices while tasting good food so perhaps the First Table founder could cut his booking fee in half to make the concept even more attractive? Food for thought?

The flavours in the food were wonderful, but the portions were tiny. We loved all the dishes we ordered - the prawns, the chicken kebabs and the pork kebabs and the miso coleslaw and fries, but we were still a bit hungry! It’s quite pricey for what you get.

Great vibe and loved the music. Food tasty, but would need to order a number of plates if you hungry.

I’ve decide to go to The Good Luck coconut for first family dinner in 2020 and I was really happy to take my parents for dinner. It might be the best fusion food I ever tried. Also service was A++++

We have dined as a family of four at The Good Luck Coconut twice, both through First Table and we thoroughly enjoyed both occasions. This is a fun location with funky decor and really friendly and helpful staff. On our recent visit we shared two sharing platters between four and there was a yummy combination of foods that appealed to both the kids and adults (sliders, meat skewers, dumplings, seafood and more). We'll definitely be back - love this place.

Tried almost everything on the menu. The Ika Mata was delicious! Shiitake noodles were very flavorful.
