The Gaff Cafe and Eatery brings a friendly, all-day rhythm to Mangere, drawing locals and the Auckland Airport crowd with dependable plates and an easygoing spirit. From first light to last orders, it leans into comfort done well, the kind of cooking that steadies a day and softens a journey.

Mornings begin with eggs any way, brightened by a tangy tomato relish and toasted ciabatta, while the dulce de leche French toast nudges brunch into indulgence with pistachio crumbs, berries and a generous sweep of whipped taro butter. It is familiar fare with just enough flourish to make it memorable.

As the day unfolds, bowls and classics carry a global wink: a burrito bowl layered with grilled chicken or pulled pork, beans, quinoa and avocado salsa; fish and chips with hoki fillet and proper crunch. Evenings lean heartier, from slow-roasted baby back ribs with slaw and fries to a grilled sirloin steak anchored by kumara mash and seasonal greens. In between, snacks like Gaff fried chicken with chipotle mayo or calamari fritti with aioli keep things crisp and convivial. To finish, think a dessert affogato with espresso and peanut brittle, or a decadent brownie melting into ice cream.

Whether fuelling up before take-off or winding down after touchdown, this is easy dining that hits the spot. Drop in, tuck in, and let The Gaff do the graft.
