dinner

In Royal Oak, Auckland, Indreni leans into the bold, homely cooking of Nepal and the Indian subcontinent, with a playful detour into Indian-Chinese comfort.

What stands out is flavour-first cooking designed for relaxed dining - generous, aromatic and perfectly suited to a lingering meal with friends.

The journey might begin with crisp onion bhaji or a classic samosa, before moving to plates that speak in complex layers rather than sheer heat. It's a place where steamed or fried momos meet slow-cooked curries, bringing together familiar favourites and discoveries on one table.

Think Nepalese goat curry with depth and warmth - a classic butter chicken or kadai preparation for those who crave rich, tomato-laced gravies - and vegetarian stalwarts like saag kofta and bhindi masala.

Mains arrive in enticing forms, from a fragrant lamb biryani to a savoury chicken manchurian and fried rice that nod to beloved regional traditions. The emphasis throughout is on balance and brightness, where gently spiced gravies, fluffy grains and hot naan do the heavy lifting.
