Mexico Takapuna

A vibrant celebration of all that is Mexico, Mexico Takapuna is funky fresh and the absolute best!

Bustling with food-market vibes, this restaurant offers informal dining and a lively atmosphere you won't find elsewhere! Not sparing one inch of wall space, you can dine amongst hundreds (no exaggeration) of framed portraits, colourful mosaic lamps and strips of neon lighting for good measure. With an explosion of colour and everything in Mexico, this eatery certainly lives up to its name.

It’s no secret that we deliver food packed with flavour in every single one of our menus and this one is no exception. We have hearty new dishes to warm you up like our Arroz de Tinga con Pollo with achiote chicken, turmeric rice, crema and fresh chilli and our achiote prawn tacos – so good we had to give you two!

This new menu also sees the return of the much-loved croquetas. It’s probably one of the most requested dishes since its departure. This time we decided to add a little extra by creating it with braised beef brisket, sweet potato, feta, green onion all deep-fried and ready to be dunked into our famous chipotle crema.

As always, vegetarian and vegan lovers are in for a treat with a menu packed full of amazing, tasty options. An exciting addition to note is NZ’s first taste of Impossible™ Pork in our Albondigas Taco, aka Impossible Pork meatballs with queso, piri piri mayo and slaw all humbly encased in a tortilla. One of our favourite new, delicious, vegan-friendly additions is our Potato & Chickpea Masa taco with chili and herbs, garlic crema, slaw, salsa roja and microgreens. It’s crunchy and packs a punch.
