Cuisine: New Zealand, Plant Based, Share Plates
Price Point: Mains from $15 - $25

Feel good about eating well at Kind, an urban oasis and community centre with a focus on plant-based foods.

The little sister of Crave Cafe, also owned by Cathie and Nigel Cottle, follows the same unique business model which sees 80% of its profits being given back to the Morningside community.

Light and airy are the best words to describe the space, with its canopy of hanging pots, whitewashed walls and enormous windows, and the plates that come out of the kitchen are equally fresh.

Look out for the likes of barbecued jackfruit tostadas and broccolini with smoked peanut butter, as well as more decadent options such as melting camembert bruschetta. Those with special dietary requirements, from gluten free to vegan, are well catered for too.

Designated drivers are in luck. Peruse their list of non-alcoholic distilled cocktails, which draw inspiration from the garden outside with plenty of aromatic floral notes and fresh herbs, while a small but perfectly formed wine list focuses on independent local growers.

For a delicious meal that’s as good for the planet as it is for your body look no further than Kind.

The food at KIND was incredible. I usually prefer 'meatier' vegan food, but they just managed to make it so flavoursome. I would highly recommend both their broccolini and their taglietelle. Those were the only dishes i had - if i'd had others, doubtless i'd be similarly enthusiastic about them too.

KIND is kind! On the environment, to animals and to us! Visiting with two vegetarians it was great to be able to have anything from the menu, not just your standard token tofu dish. The service was excellent, fast, friendly and efficient and the setting and facilities perfect. I ❤️ KIND

Drinks and food came out at perfect timings, I recommend trying the jackfruit tostadas. The desserts are also sugar and milk free for a guilt free treat. Great experience!

KIND is a beautiful restaurant with a simple and effective ethos - be kind to yourself, the neighbourhood, and the earth. The food is varied and filling; our group left feeling very satisfied after sharing 7 or so dishes (the foccacia was particularly delicious). It’s apparent that the restaurant is well connected with the other restaurants in the precinct as they all share some menu items.
There aren’t many restaurants that offer a full vegetarian menu and each of us enjoyed the food, even though we’re not vegetarian or vegan.
I’m looking forward to trying the brunch and breakfast menu!

Absolutely amazing. Food - we ordered 5 dishes to share between us as Hubby loves a feed and being plant based we were worried he would be hungry with the recommended 3-4 to share. All dishes were generous sizes and easy to share between two of us. We had some salad leftover at the end even which was rather surprising. We had a coffee and delicious peanut butter slice to share which was very yummy. Coffee was really punchy and not burnt at all - best ive had in awhile. Decor - it is a very stunning restaurant. Beautiful hanging baskets with well cared for plants , oversized bulbs, cushions on the bench seats and really nice touches with modern tiles. Staff - very attentive but certainly not overbearing or pushy. Smiles and polite service. Well mannered and accomodating. It was our first time at KIND and we left content and full after a lovely meal. Spent 1.5hrs there and at no point did we feel rushed or unwelcome. As the night set in we even got a wee tealight candle on our table. 10/10. A real credit to the community
