Tucked amongst the bustling cafes of Auckland’s popular Ponsonby Road, Thai House stands out for its authentic and varied Thai menu.

The restaurant has well-spread tables, the Thai House floor plan gives diners a sense of relaxed speakeasy culture. The lighting is always low and the Thai cooking is delicious.

Expect an extensive and varied menu, Thai House is meat-eater-friendly, with everything from prawns to pork hitting the salty, tangy, and sweet spot of traditional Thai cooking. Take the green curry prawns, cooked in fresh chilli paste, coconut milk, basil, pumpkin and bamboo shoots – a winning combination. Alternatively, try the roasted duck curry bursting with spice and sweet pineapple.

For vegetarians, don't look past the sizzling garlic tofu, containing stir-fried tofu and cashew nuts paired with vegetables with garlic, pepper and Thai seasoning. The pad Thai is always a safe bet, but be warned – you’ll leave the table stuffed and contented.

The buzzing Thai House should be at the top of your list for a central, punchy Thai meal with a difference.
